A method and system for estimating continuous tone values associated with input pixels in a color image are provided. The method includes receiving binarized halftone image data representing a color image, wherein the color image has a plurality of input pixels; and estimating the continuous tone values associated with each of the input pixels by: establishing a window comprising a pixel of interest and neighboring pixels in the binarized halftone image data, wherein the window comprises a plurality of sub-window's and wherein each sub-window has a plurality of predetermined number of rows and columns of pixels; and processing the binarized halftone image data in both a process direction and a cross-process direction using the window such that the processing is performed for one of the pixels in each of the rows within the sub-window and the processing is skipped for the remaining pixels in that row of that sub-window.

System and method for estimating continuous tone values from rendered binary input

A system and method for performing threshold stamping are disclosed. First and second threshold values corresponding to first and second pixels may be retrieved from a threshold memory. A plurality of upscaled threshold values may optionally be computed based on the first threshold value and the second threshold value. An (upscaled) threshold value may be updated at each of one or more first register blocks. A binary pixel value may be computed based at least in part on the first updated threshold value. The first updated threshold value may be updated at each of one or more second register blocks. A downscaled threshold value may optionally be computed based on a plurality of second updated threshold values. The downscaled threshold value or second updated threshold value may be damped in a damping circuit, and the damped threshold value may be stored in the threshold memory.

Error diffusion method and hardware architecture

The method of scanning a document by providing a test patch to be scanned, initially scanning the test patch and storing the signal response of each reading element to the test patch in a pixel threshold table, providing a document to be scanned, scanning the document and comparing the signal response of each reading element with the corresponding signal response in the pixel threshold table, and printing a mark or not printing a mark in response to the comparison for each reading element. The method includes an extended threshold table to cover halftone cells.

Scan image processing

Combined input scanner and output scanner has a scanning carriage adapted for scanning movement having a reading head secured thereto for scanning a document to produce a digital image and a printing head secured thereto for relative movement with respect to a copy sheet and electrically connected to the reading head for printing a digital image on a copy sheet. The reading head includes a solid state device with input reading elements and the printing head includes a solid state device with output printing elements which are securely comounted in the same plane to the same planar substrate.

Compact read/write scanner

A device for the adjustment of the digital data stream that drives the modulators in an ionographic printing device. In particular, the device stretches strings of black image pixels to produce wider vertical lines and other fine details that may have been adversely affected due to modulator crosstalk. Moreover, the present invention is implemented in such a manner, so as to enable the end user to selectively define the magnitude of stretching to be applied to the strings of black pixels.

A combined input scanner and output scanner has a frame assembly, a document transport to transport a document through the scanner in a path in a first direction and, a copy sheet transport to transport a copy sheet through the scanner a document registration means and a copy sheet registration means, the document registration gate including a cover pivotally mounted on the machine for movement between an open and closed position over the document transport path, said cover having at least one document registration gate adjacent its downstream end which extends into the document transport path to register the lead edge of a document when the cover is in the open position, the copy sheet registration means including at least one copy sheet registration gate in the copy sheet transport path to register the lead edge of a copy sheet when said cover is in the open position. The cover has a tab for removing the at least one copy sheet registration gate from the copy sheet transport when the cover is in the closed position over the document transport path.
