A flux cored arc welding electrode of the type used with external shielding gas wherein the electrode comprises an outer ferrous sheath and a particulate fill material comprising an acidic flux system and alloying agents with the fill material including an arc stabilizer, titanium dioxide, calcium fluoride, an alloying system of 0-4.0 percent by weight of electrode selected from the class consisting of aluminum, silicon, titanium, carbon and manganese. Iron powder controls the percentage of the fill of the electrode and 0.2-1.0 percent by weight of electrode is polytetrafluoroethylene powder.

Flux cored arc welding electrode

A cored electrode for gas shielded arc welding to deposit a weld metal bead, where the electrode has a core of fill material surrounded by a ferrous tube with the fill material having alloying agents and oxide fluxing ingredients including, by weight of fill material, 40-60% titanium dioxide, 0.3-0.5% boron oxide, and 1.0-5.0% aluminum powder, with the aluminum powder having a higher affinity for oxygen than the oxide fluxing ingredients and with the amount of aluminum powder selected to produce 0.02-0.08% titanium, less than 0.002% boron and less than 0.10% aluminum in the weld metal.

Flux cored gas shielded electrode

A consumable welding electrode for electric arc welding in a shielding gas and producing reduced amounts of fume during said welding comprising in combination a steel sheath and a filler within the sheath. The filler including metallic aluminum powder and a dual stabilizing agent of sodium oxide and potassium oxide, wherein the dual stabilizing agent and said aluminum have about a 2.4:1 to 3.5:1 weight ratio.

A high manganese weld bead and electrode for producing same which has higher abrasion resistance and hardness than heretofore and is economical to manufacture. The deposit contains approximately 0.4-0.7% C, 10-16% Mn and 4.5 to 7.5% Cr.

An improved consumable electric arc welding electrode having an outer ferrous metal sheath, such as a low carbon steel sheath, which is formed around a generally concentric core of compressed particulate fill material to be used for depositing an all weld metal of steel in multiple passes with a minimum tensile strength of about 72,000 psi and a minimum elongation of about 22 percent wherein the fill material includes aluminum in an amount greater than about 1.50 percent of the total electrode weight to provide a correlated amount of aluminum in the deposited metal. This improvement involves a particulate fill material producing a combination of nickel and manganese content in the range of 2.5-4.0 percent by weight of the total electrode with the nickel being greater than about 0.5 percent, the manganese being in the range of 0.7-2.0 percent and both the aluminum and the carbon in the fill material being properly controlled whereby the deposited all weld metal, when the sheath and core materials are melted and deposited, has a percentage by weight of aluminum greater than about 1.20 percent and a percentage of carbon by weight of less than about 0.12 percent.

Consumable welding electrode and method of using same

A flux cored welding electrode for use in electric arc welding with a shielded gas, which electrode includes a tube of low carbon steel having on the inside thereof a titanium dioxide based flux with fluxing ingredients including aluminum oxide in the amount of 0.1 to 0.5% of the total weight of the electrode. The improvement of the invention wherein the titanium dioxide based flux with aluminum oxide free of magnesium or compounds of magnesium.

Gas shielded, flux cored, welding electrode

A cored type arc-welding steel electrode for the welding of 14 gauge to 3/8 inch thick mild steel wherein the ingredients in the core provide a smooth spray arc that is easy to control along with excellent bead appearance, low spatter, and good slag removal. The core ingredients include: calcium oxide, as a necessary compound, in a prefused mix to lower its hygroscopicity; aluminum and magnesium in controlled amounts; and selected fluorides.
