The invention relates to a method and a process of determining individual skin structure and function at a point in time for the purpose of determining and formulating skin care products that remedy the deficiencies observed in the skin. Objective and repeatable dermal biometric instrumentation techniques can be used to measure skin moisture content, sebum content, firmness and elasticity properties, skin thickness, transepidermal water loss, skin pH and to perform a photo analysis of the face with UV and visible light. By customizing the skin care products, the individually added active ingredients can be controlled, the diluents can be modified, dermal penetration rates can be controlled, the surfactant systems can be adjusted, and the stability of the product can be controlled. To prevent the loss of active materials in the product, the skin care product is manufactured for an individual consumer and is only sold in a quantity of a three months supply. Additionally, a variety of ingredients can be combined that a mass produced product cannot contain due to stability/compatibility issues. This invention overcomes the limitations in formulating skin products for the mass market by providing a product designed with objective biometric data and created for the specific clinical condition of an individual's skin.

A 'single-use' personal care product designed to replace conventional single use products such as small bars of soap, mini-bottles of shampoo, etc. A water soluble foamed polymer structure, such as produced by freeze drying acemannan derived from aloe vera, serves as the carrier for the personal care active ingredient, and provides the bulk to the structure. The dry foamed product has high void volume, good dimensional stability, high surface area, dissolves easily and completely upon exposure to water and hand mechanical action, and leaves no adverse residue on the skin. The product does not require bottling or complex wrapping, and is much more economical and environmentally friendly than the conventional single use products it replaces. The product can be conveniently carried in a purse or pocket, so that a consumer need never be without his/her favorite personal care products.

Water soluble dry foam personal care product

A stable dry powder skin care powder having prolonged and controlled release properties, useful as baby powders, body talcs, deodorizing powders, OTC eczema preparations, foot powders, anti-fungal powders, etc. The dry powder is preferably prepared by a process comprising spray-drying a mixture of liposome encapsulated active agent, starch and maltodextrin. The particle is designed so that activity of, e.g., an anti-inflammatory agent such as Dragosantol.RTM. can be specifically triggered by skin conditions, such as moisture, for optimal timing of delivery.

A non-alcoholic fragrance carrier with good fragrance solubility, product stability and clarity, and silky, non-tacky rub out when applied to the skin. Glycereth-7-triacetate is used for solubilization of fragrance oil into a non-alcohol water system. The ultimate fragrance carrier product is, e.g., a perfume or cologne composition, and contains a reduced overall surfactant level and reduced overall solids level. The composition thus minimizes the use of ingredients which tend to adversely affect evaporation rates, skin feel, rub-out time, and product turbidity.
