The present disclosure provides a ink-jet ink, having a pH greater than 7, comprising a first aqueous vehicle, a colorant, more typically a carbon black pigment, and an amphoteric polymeric dispersant, wherein the amphoteric polymeric dispersant is a block copolymer comprising an A block and a B block, wherein the A block is a segment consisting essentially of an amine monomer; and the B block is a segment comprising an acidic monomer and at least one hydrophobic monomer; wherein the dispersant is neutralized, and the B block is free of an amine monomer. The disclosure further pertains to an ink set comprising this ink jet ink and at least a second ink which contains a reactive species with appropriate cationic agent, salt, or pH modifying agent capable of destabilizing the colorant containing dispersion of the first ink. Still further, the disclosure pertains to a method of printing wherein the first ink and second ink of the ink set are printed in an adjacent relationship, thereby minimizing penetration, feathering and/or bleed of the colorant and improving print quality.

Amphoteric dispersants and their use in inkjet inks

The present disclosure provides a aqueous colorant dispersion comprising a colorant and a polymeric dispersant, wherein the polymeric dispersant is a block copolymer comprising an A block and a B block, wherein the A block is a segment having a block size of about 5 to about 18 units, is substantially free of hydroxyethylmethacrylate, and comprises at least 50% by weight of a monomer, having the following structure: CH&#x2550;CRC(O)O(CHRCHO)nR, wherein R and Rare H, or methyl; Ris alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms or phenyl; and n is about 1 to about 20; and the B block is a segment comprising an ionic monomer and at least one hydrophobic monomer; and wherein the dispersant is neutralized. The disclosure further pertains to an aqueous ink jet ink comprising this aqueous colorant dispersion. Still further, the disclosure pertains to a method of printing that provides images with the requisite optical density and chroma needed for emerging ink jet applications.

AB block copolymer dispersants having an ink vehicle soluble block

The present invention pertains to a black inkjet ink comprising aqueous vehicle and carbon black pigment stabilized to dispersion by a certain block copolymer dispersant. The invention further pertains to an ink set comprising this black ink and at least a second ink which contains a reactive species capable of destabilizing the carbon black dispersion. Still further, the invention pertains to a method of printing wherein the black ink and second ink are printed in an overlapping relationship, thereby minimizing penetration, feathering and/or bleed of the black pigment and improving print quality.

Inkjet ink, ink set and method of using same

The present invention pertains to a radiation-curable inkjet ink and, more particularly, to a radiation-curable inkjet ink comprising a specified polymerizable vehicle that is curable on exposure to radiation such as ultraviolet light.

Curable inkjet ink

A process is provided in which a pigment is oxidated with ozone in an aqueous environment in which the mixture of ozone, water and pigment is subjected to a dispersive mixing operation; and/or the pH of the mixture is maintained in a range of 6-8, whereby the pigment is self-dispersing and preferably has an acid value of less than 3 &#x3bc;moles/M. Pigments from this process and ink jet inks containing the self-dispersing pigments, are also provided.

Media are disclosed having a substrate, water-absorbing layer, and adhesive ink-receiving layer. After being printed with an aqueous pigmented ink, the ink-receiving layer may be laminated to a permanent substrate. Exposure to an energy source may render the printed image more durable.

Ink-jet media

An ink jet ink composition and process for printing on vinyl substrates in which the ink comprises an aqueous vehicle containing at least water and a water-miscible glycol or glycol ether, wherein water constitutes no more than 80% by weight based on the total weight of the vehicle; an insoluble colorant (preferably a pigment); a polymeric dispersant; a silicon or fluorinated surfactant; and, optionally but preferably, a graft copolymer binder having a hydrophobic backbone and non-ionic, hydrophilic side chains, which binder is soluble in the aqueous vehicle but insoluble in water.

Aqueous pigmented ink jet inks for printing on vinyls

Ink/textile combination having improved properties

An ink/textile combination is provided wherein the ink contains an aqueous carrier, a pigment and a polymer having acid, base, epoxy or hydroxy functional moieties and the textile contains hydroxyl, amine, amido or carboxyl groups and either an organometallic crosslinking agent or an isocyanate crosslinking agent, and wherein upon exposure of the printed image to an external energy source, the crosslinking agent will react with the textile and the polymer in the ink to produce images having improved durability, water-fastness and wash-fastness.
