An applicator spreads a treatment agent, such as flux powder or granules, uniformly on the surface of molten metal during continuous casting. The flux is supplied to the applicator and argon or other gas under pressure is also supplied adjacent the applicator in at least two directions. A programmable controller controls the gas feed in each of the directions so that each gas flow is independently controllable. The applicator preferably is a frusto-triangular-shaped pan having a narrow end and a wider end with the narrow end connected to the supply of flux. The applicator is supported by a base having an upper surface with a series of channels defined by vanes so that the flux is divided along the channels and then exits at the wider end of the applicator. The base is either flat or domed.

Applicator for surface treatment agent for continuous casting process

A molded plastic cap suitable for large condiment bottles. The cap is of the type which are threaded onto the mouth of the bottle and contains an inner sealing liner. The sealing liner is compressed by the cap against the bottle mouth upon application thereto. The sealing liner cap includes a reinforcing bridge portion and flat circular land portion for press sealing the liner against the bottle rim mouth. The bridge portion includes ribs which are substantially flush with the land portion on the inside surface. The configuration of the cap assembly provides a structure which is attractive in appearance and is free of dimensional distortions.

A container cap comprising a cover member, at least one opening in the cover member, lid means including at least one lid to close said opening, flexible hinge means connecting the lid means to the cover member, and defining a free edge opposite said hinge means, and tamper evidencing means in the form of arrowhead locks positioned at opposite corners of said free edge secured to the cover member, including breakable webbing connecting said locks to said lid means.

A carton having both shipping and display modes suitable for both shipping and displaying a plurality of rectangular, thin, relatively flexible pouches, said pouches having graphics on the front sides thereof and being stackable in a generally upright, in-file fashion in said carton, comprising; a plurality of connected panels defining a generally rectangular hexahedron shape, and including opposed front and back panels, a bottom panel, and opposed side panels extending between the front and back panels, said front panel comprising a display part open in an amount effective to display said pouch indicia; at least one of said side panels comprising an inwardly extending tab portion having a separated free edge adapted to engage said pouch edges and retain said pouches in a generally upright position, said front and side panels having machine-cut exposed edges.

A reconstituted pimiento strip useful for stuffing olives using automatic equipment is prepared by employing a forming apparatus comprising a pair of opposed, continuous belts, the lower belt being recessed on its mating surface to define a trough into which a mixture of pimiento and binder is introduced. The orientation of the belts relative the horizontal is such that both belts dip into a calcium chloride setting bath at a point intermediate their ends. The apparatus further includes discharge nozzle means to introduce the pimiento/binder mix onto the recessed area of the lower belt, the leading nip between the upper and lower belts being downstream of said nozzle means.
