A method and composition for the immunization of healthy useful plants against plant diseases containing as active ingredients compounds of formula ##STR1## in which: X is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, methyl, methoxy, HOOC or MOOC; Y is hydrogen, halogen, SO.sub.3 H, SO.sub.3 M, nitro, hydroxy or amino, M being the molar equivalent of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ion that is formed from a corresponding base or basic compound; and Z is cyano or --CO--A; A represents either --OH or --SH, the hydrogen atom of which may also be replaced by the molar equivalent of an inorganic or organic cationic residue, or wherein A represents any other organic residue which has a molecular weight of less than 900 and which may also contain one, or more than one, hetero atom, including the salts of the phytophysiologically tolerable 7-carboxylic acid or 7-thiocarboxylic acid with primary, secondary or tertiary amines or with inorganic bases.

The combination of the plant microbicide 4-(2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzodioxol-7-yl)-1H-pyrrole-3-carbonitril with the plant microbicide .alpha.-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethyl]-.alpha.-(1,1-dimethyl-ethyl)-.beta.-(1H- 1,2,4-triazolyl)-1-ethanol results in a synergistically enhanced effect in the control of plant diseases. Microbicidal compositions based on such combinations are suitable for treating natural products of vegetable and animal origin and, in particular, for seed treatment.

The combination of the plant microbicide 4-(2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzodioxol-7-yl)-1H-pyrrole-3-carbonitrile with the plant microbicide 1-{2-[2-chloro-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-ylmethyl }-1H-1,2,4-triazole results in a synergistically increased effect in the control of plant diseases. Microbicidal compositions based on such combinations are suitable for treating crops of plants and natural products of vegetable and animal origin, and for seed treatment.

A microbicidal composition contains as active ingredient 2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylthiazol-5-carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula I ##STR1## R is an organic radical with up to 40 carbon atoms, which optionally contains nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur atoms and which can be transformed by hydrolosis or oxydation into the directly to the thiazol ring bound carboxyl rest.

Such compounds, by themselves or in the form of formulated agents, can be used for protecting plants against harmful microorganisms.
