A boot comprises: a shell comprising a first foamed polymeric material; a sock liner comprising a second foamed polymeric material, the sock liner having an exposed section and an enclosed section; and an adhesive layer affixing the shell and the enclosed section of the sock liner; wherein there is an absence of intermingling of the second surface of the enclosed section of the sock liner with the inner surface of the shell. Methods of making and using the boot are also provided.

A system to collect by vacuum conveyance, separate, and discharge two mixed immiscible liquids with different specific gravities comprising a prefilter vessel, a vacuum tank, an optional heavy phase intermediate separation stage, and an optional light phase intermediate separation stage. Vacuum tankis under a constant regulated vacuum, which sucks mixed immiscible liquids with different specific gravities from their respective remote source(s) through conduit(s) connected to vacuum tank. Collection conduits can have manually, mechanically, or electro-mechanically controlled valves at their source ends. Any grit, sediment, particles, and/or floatable debris in the collection conduits is first removed, and then any entrained air in the mixed liquid stream is removed, from the mixed liquid stream prior to undergoing any phase separation stages. Initial phase separation occurs automatically in vacuum tankwithout any phase interface detection devices. Vacuum tankprovides quiescent conditions for gravity separation of mixed immiscible liquids. Gravity separation is further enhanced by low grade dissolved air flotation separation which is induced by the vacuum in vacuum tank. Additional phase separation can occur, if necessary, in intermediate separation stage(s)and/or. Heavy phase intermediate separation stageseparates the light phase from the heavy phase, if necessary. Light phase intermediate separation stageseparates the heavy phase from the light phase, if necessary. Separated phases are discharged to their own individual repository or depository, such as a storage tank, a sewer, well injection, additional separation, additional treatment to remove other contaminants, and/or process reuse.

A dockside system for the collection and disposal of bilge water, waste oil and the like is described for continuously evacuating waste liquids from waterborne vessels (16, 18) into a shore vacuum tank (24) and for simultaneously and automatically separating oil and water from the waste liquid. A continuous regulated vacuum is applied near the top of the vacuum tank (24) for sucking waste liquid, such as bilge water and oil, through tubes (30, 33, 82) into the tank. The tubes have manually operated on/off valves (34) at outer end portions thereof which are operated at the bilges of the waterborne vessels. Water and oil are separated in the tank and each is respectively and automatically pumped to a water and oil receiving station (28 and 26) by means of a water outlet (88) located near the bottom of the tank, an oil outlet (92) located a relatively small distance above the water outlet, an oil/water interface sensor (98) positioned vertically between the water and oil outlets, an upper liquid level sensor (96) in the tank positioned substantially above the water and oil outlets and a lower liquid level sensor (100) in the tank positioned below the upper liquid level sensor but above the water and oil outlets.
