A fluid shutoff apparatus utilizes a float [] of a float chamber [] connected to a float-operated valve [] to provide positive shutoff of fluid to a downstream load upon excessive flow from the fluid outlet [] of the apparatus. The float-operated valve is shut when fluid discharge from the apparatus is greater than the flow rate from a flow-limiting valve [] connected to a fluid inlet [], decreasing the fluid level in the float chamber. The volume of the float chamber prevents inadvertent shutoff of fluid due to normal perturbations in flow to the load.

The present invention relates to detergent compositions containing alkaolamine, preferably triethanolamines, divalent ions, chelants, and amphoteric surfactants. More particularly, the invention is directed to detergent compositions for hand dishwashing which has improved grease removal performance and benefits in sudsing. The detergent compositions of this invention can be in any form, including granular, gel or liquid. Highly preferred embodiments are in liquid form.

The present invention provides a firm, mild, good performing, low-smear semi-solid or solid dishwashing product. The rheology of the dishwashing product is such that structural elements have been separated from functional elements to obtain best structure properties and in-use properties. By using an interlocking mesh of carboxylic acid and/or neutralized carboxylic acid fibers and/or platelets to provide a support structure, the semi-solid or solid dishwashing product can be loaded with superior performing dishcare materials (e.g., mild surfactants) and appearance enhancers without dependence on surfactant-water phase behavior to provide the support structure. As a result, the present dishwashing product is milder than semi-solid dishwashing products currently on the market. The support structure of the present product, and preferably the use of hygroscopic surfactants, provide a product with lower smear than current gel dishwashing products.
