Compounds useful for molecular imaging of cells expressing estrogen receptors are provided. Also provided are intermediates for making the compounds and methods of making the compounds using a modular convergent strategy. Further, methods of making the intermediates are described, as well as methods of diagnosing disease in a subject by using the compounds as imaging agents.

Estrogen receptor imaging agents

A method of preparing multifunctionalized nanoparticles involves using a modular system of half-linkers to attach functional moieties that serve to deliver the nanoparticles to a desired target, exert an effect at the target, or track the nanoparticles within a cell or an animal. The modular chemistry of the half-linker system permits the custom design and synthesis of functionalized nanoparticles bearing multiple groups and therefore results in precise delivery to desired cell types and intracellular locations. The functionalized nanoparticles can be used to treat or diagnose a variety of medical conditions, including neoplastic diseases, infectious diseases, and chronic diseases.

Precision-guided nanoparticle systems for drug delivery

The present invention comprises the design, synthesis and development of a new class of chemotherapeutic agents for prophylactic and therapeutic treatments in a mammal, particularly a human, believed to be at risk of suffering from a hormone-responsive disorder. In an aspect of the invention, such treatments include therapeutic compositions comprising novel steroidal antiestrogen and antiandrogen compounds. In a preferred aspect, such a novel compound of the present invention has an address and a message component, which are made into a single composite entity for more aggressive intervention and effective treatment of hormone-responsive disorders, thereby prolonging the disease-free interval for the patient and reducing a number of side effects.

Steroidal antiestrogens and antiandrogens and uses thereof

A tracking code is adhered to a syringe label cradle for tracking each activity regarding the syringe label cradle, e.g., drug preparation, drug inventory, drug dispensing, drug administration, drug return, drug charges, etc. The tracking code may be in the form of bar or other machine readable code, as well as human readable indicia. The unique tracking code enables tracking of events pertaining to a specific syringe from the time of being prepared with a prescribed drug to its disposal or return to a hospital pharmacy. A log is created relating the patient to the specific drug used and all information inputted with respect to the tracking code.

One aspect of the present invention relates to polypharmacophoric compounds. In certain embodiments, the polyphamacophore compounds comprise individual pharmacophore units selected from the group consisting of D-1 agonists, D-2 agonists, D-3 agonists, D-4 agonists, irreversible monoamine inhibitors, reversible monoamine inhibitors, monoamine transporter inhibitors, COMT inhibitors, MAO inhibitors, and dopamine transporter inhibitors. Moreover, the present invention also relates to combinatorial libraries of polypharmacophoric compounds. Another aspect of the present invention relates to the use of a polypharmacophoric compound in a method of treating a mammal in need thereof. For example, a polypharmacophoric compound of the present invention may be used in a method of treating a mammal afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington's Disease, depression, attention deficit disorder, autism, obesity, or inflammation.

Diagnostic and therapeutic alkylenediamine compounds and process

A cover assembly for a sewer vent pipe having a dome-shaped cap member with a plurality of brackets affixed to the inner surface thereof and extending to surfaces in a common plane for supporting the cap upon the open, upper end of the sewer pipe. A circular support plate is fixedly attached to the surfaces of the brackets and has a central opening for loose passage of a screw a first plurality of additional openings having centers lying on a circle concentrically surrounding the central opening, and a second plurality of additional openings. The screw is threadedly engaged with a tapped opening in a spreader plate. A plurality of lock arms extend through corresponding ones of said first plurality of additional openings. Each lock arm has an edge engaged in a notch in the periphery of the spreader plate, inhibiting rotation thereof. A screwdriver may be inserted through an opening in the cap to engage the head of the screw and impart rotation thereto, thereby causing the spreader plate to travel axially on the screw and to move foot portions of the lock arms outwardly and inwardly with respect to the screw axis by camming action. In operation, the cap is placed over the end of the vent pipe, in spaced, surrounding relation thereto, with the brackets resting on the upper end of the pipe. A screwdriver is inserted through an opening in the cap and engaged with the screw head. The screw is rotated to move the spreader plate upwardly and the lock arms outwardly into frictional engagement with the inside of the pipe. In order to remove the cap, the screwdriver is again inserted and the screw is rotated in the opposite direction, moving the spreader plate downwardly and the lock arms inwardly, away from the pipe. Thus, the cap may be easily installed and removed, but only by those familiar with its structure.

Disclosed are certain cocaine analogs useful for imaging of cocaine receptors and dopamine receptors. Also disclosed are analogs useful for imaging diagnostics for Parkinson's disease.

A medication delivery and monitoring system and methods whereby drugs are safely delivered to a patient, monitored in real-time during delivery and crucial events are recorded during delivery to provide real-time, on-line information and detail for an audit trail. A novel safety label cradle unit is disclosed. Safety label cradles (SLC's) are provided in a plurality of sizes to match varying sizes of syringes which are disposed on a cradle of the SLC to provide a constant needle height on the SLC unit independent of syringe volume (barrel diameter). A selected SLC is securely affixed to a syringe by an adhesively backed label wrapping. The label is preprinted to provide drug identification indicia and drug preparation information. The information is automatically read into the system from the label. A novel delivery station of the system monitors drug delivery as a plunger of the syringe is pushed to deliver a drug to a patient. A smart tray in cooperation with a slider portion of the SLC is used to selectively deliver drugs to a port in the IV set. The smart tray comprises a first portion for carrying SLC units, an attachable second portion having a control panel for operating the system and a cover for lockably affixing the SLC units to the tray.

A ball bearing brake has a spindle with a central axis. Each member of a pair of caliper members has a lever and a brake pad arm. The members are fitted on the spindle for rotation around the axis, and for limited axial movement during assembly and adjustment. Each brake pad arm carries a brake pad to be pressed against a bicycle wheel. An end member mountable to the bicycle structure includes means to engage the spindle and to compress a stack between itself and a head on the spindle. Four sets of bearing balls are formed around the spindle, respectively confined (1) by a race adjustment to the head of the spindle and one of the lever arms (2) by a race on the first lever arm and on an intermediate race member (3) by another race on the intermediate race member and on the other lever arm, and (4) between a race on the said other lever arm and a race adjacent to the end member.
