A cross-country vehicle comprising an all-wheel drive is driven by a reciprocating engine installed transversely close to the front axle and by means of a change speed transmission which is also disposed transversely in the front. From the change speed transmission, the drive torque flows onto a planetary transmission operating as a center differential. The ring gear of the planetary transmission drives the front axle; the sun gear drives a low-high change-over unit. The planetary transmission, the change-over unit and the wheel sets connected behind it are constructed such that, during the high operation, the major portion of the torque is available at the front axle, and, in the low operation, is available on the rear axle. The center differential can be locked in the high and in the low operation.

Drive of a cross-country vehicle

A gear shift mechanism of a change speed gearbox is provided that is constructed as an auxiliary transmission, in which all the transmission gears can be shifted by the simultaneous closing of two synchronizer clutches, with one synchronizer clutch participating in the shifting of all of the transmission gears. This synchronizer clutch is actuated by a servo drive, and the other synchronizer clutches are actuated purely mechanically via a shift roller.

Gear shift mechanism of a motor vehicle transmission

A manual transmission shifted by synchronizer clutches, in which the transmission gears situated between an input shaft and an output shaft are arranged such that, for the shifting of all forward gears, two clutches respectively are closed. A synchronizer clutch participates in the shifting of all forward gears. By bringing the sliding sleeve of the synchronizer clutch into its neutral zero position, a shifting directly into idling can take place from any shifted gear.

Manual transmission of a motor vehicle

In the case of a synchronized manual transmission of a motor vehicle, the transmission gears, which consist of loose wheels and fixed wheels, can be shifted by means of the coupling of the loose wheels with their pertaining transmission shafts. The transmission gears are arranged such between an input shaft and an output shaft that they can be shifted only by the simultaneous closing of two synchronizer clutches which are assigned to them.

A synchronized manual transmission of a motor vehicle is actuated by a shift roller. The transmission gears can be shifted only by the simultaneous closing of two synchronizer clutches. At least one sliding sleeve of a synchronizer clutch is adjustable independently of the position of the shift roller into the neutral position and inversely from the neutral position into the position determined by the shift roller.

All-wheel drive for a motor vehicle

An arrangement for the operating of clutches of an all-wheel transmission line has two hydraulically operated clutches inserted in the transmission line of a motor vehicle. The first clutch is used as the separating clutch to a first vehicle axle; the second clutch is used as a locking clutch for the blocking of a lock system by which the second vehicle axle can be connected as a function of the rotational speed. The separating clutch can be closed against the force of a diaphragm spring by a first hydraulic piston with a second hydraulic piston, which is concentric with respect to the first hydraulic piston, the locking clutch can be opened against the force of a diaphragm spring.

Arrangement for the operating of clutches of an all-wheel transmission

A drive assembly for motor vehicles comprises a front power unit which is elastically supported at the vehicle body and which is rigidly connected with a rear drive unit by means of a center tube through which a drive shaft extends. The front area of the center tube has a low bending stress and is connected to the power unit. This front area of the center tube has at least one longitudinal slot which is axially limited in its length and which is arranged in a vertical longitudinal center plane of the center tube. The slot causes a reduction of the torsional rigidity while, at the same time, the bending rigidity of the center tube is maintained. As a result, the torsional natural frequency of the assembly is reduced so that torsional resonance and vibrations at the transmission line are avoided during the driving operation.

Drive assembly for motor vehicles

A manually operable gear shift lever is disposed in a narrowly limited space with radial play on a stationary guide tube. The lower end of the gear shift lever is disposed in a pivotable ball joint. A gear shift rod leads from the gear shift lever to the transmission. The gear shift lever is disposed on the guide tube in an easily movable, durably lubricated and vibration-damping manner.

A controlling arrangement for a motor vehicle gear shift transmission has a central component shift piece which interacts with several shift rails disposed next to one another and assigned to the individual transmission gears and with a shift rail lock mechanism that, when one shift rail respectively is moved, locks the remaining shift rails. A shift finger mounted on the shift piece has involute flanks on both sides, which flanks rest against plane V-surfaces of a V-shaped recess of the shift rail to be controlled. Locking cams of the locking mechanism rest against the V-surfaces of the other shift rails and are axially and radially offset with respect to the shift finger mounted on the shift piece.

In order to construct a four wheel drive of a motor vehicle as a compact constructional unit with a low space requirement, the two output shafts of the rotating four wheel locking system are disposed in one another. A cylindrical lock housing encloses the locking system including a planet gear transfer transmission and a disk bundle at a narrow axial and radial distance.

A device for the adjustment of universal joint shafts, especially universal joint shafts for automotive vehicles. One of the shaft ends is coupled to a differential in a torque-transmitting fashion by a synchronizing slide joint and the other shaft end is coupled a universal joint hub which in turn is coupled to the wheel. A frictional coupling element with a defined retaining force is arranged between the shaft and the universal joint hub and couples the hub to the shaft in axially displaceable fashion.

A shift rod for the manual preselecting and shifting of transmission gears is constructed in two rod segments. The two rod segments are connected with one another by means of a vibration-damping coupling joint. The coupling joint is housed in a damping body that, in longitudinal direction of the shift rod, is developed to be softly resilient over a short distance, but with a subsequent strong spring progression, is developed to be very stiff with respect to torsion in twisting direction of the shift rod.

Shift rod for a manual transmission

A bearing of an idler gear of an all-wheel transfer transmission that mates with a drive gear wheel and an output gear wheel to one vehicle axle is provided with a bush that is clamped in between two housing walls. The idler gear is disposed on tapered roller bearings which are disposed on the bush. A screw that passes centrally through the bush is tightened by a nut and as a result braces the inner races of the tapered roller bearings and places the tapered rollers without play against the running surfaces of the idler gear.

A locking synchronizer for a motor vehicle gear transmission having a shift sleeve with an inner cone that is displaceable lengthwise on a guide sleeve, a synchronizing ring with an outer cone and an annular projection with teeth mounted on the loose gear to be engaged. During synchronization and shifting, claws mounted internally on the synchronizing ring engage tooth gaps in the annular projection. The shifting motion is opposed by a snap ring which is guided radially movably in an annular groove of the annular projection and is tensioned by the conical inner circumferential surfaces of the claws.
