A method and apparatus for converting measurement data pertaining to slivers and fibers originating from a continuous measurement that is dependent upon a plurality of parameters to calibration values. The plurality of parameters includes ambient, processing and measurement parameters. The parameters are converted and combined during processing. The resulting data relates only to individual property parameters and their changes per unit of time and are reduced to standard conditions with respect to ambient and processing parameters. The apparatus includes a plurality of sensors, a calibrating unit and a processing unit that function to continuously measure a quantity of material per length of the sliver and a variation in a fineness of the fiber per unit of time.

Method and apparatus for continuously determining the fineness of fibers

The method for mixing textile fibers utilizes a computer which is inputted with data concerning the characteristics of the fibers of the individual fiber bales to be processed as well as the data indicative of the desired characteristics of the board sliver or yarn which is to be manufactured from the fiber mixture obtained from the fibers of the individual bales. From the inputted data, the computer, in accordance with a predetermined computing algorithm, calculates a component distribution which comes close to the estimated component distribution and which satisfies the desired characteristics of the car sliver or yarn characteristics. The computer may also effect a correction of the computed component distribution taking into account boundary conditions with additional inputted information. The component distribution found by the computer is used for the adjustment or regulation of the supply of individual fiber components to a mixer in order to obtain the calculated component distribution in the fiber mixture which si delivered by the mixer.

Method of blending textile fibers

A method and apparatus for in-line color measurement of continuously moving fiber material, during a fiber material process, by using a color measuring device. The moving fiber material is compressed at a processing position. At the processing position, the fiber material is illuminated by a light probe, thereby defining a measuring position. The light reflected from the fiber material is detected and evaluated to thereby obtain a color measurement of the advancing fiber material.

Method and apparatus for measuring the natural color of slivers

A method of operating a pneumatic transport system in a process line of a spinning mill, wherein fiber flocks are transported through ducts by means fo airflows generated by fans and these airflows can be influenced by units such as fans, adjustable flats, leakage air openings and induction boxes. In critical regions the respectively prevailing static pressure is measured by means of pressure sensors and, in so far as this pressure lies outside of a predetermined desired range a correction is first made at one of the units which contributes to determining this pressure in the sense of changing the pressure into the desired range or in the direction towards the desired range. The effect of this change in other critical regions effected thereby is then determined with reference to the pressure measured there and a change is subsequently effected of a further unit responsible for the pressure in these regions. The above process steps are repeated in the sense of an iterative adaptation to the desired ranges, i.e. until the measured pressures lie in the respectively provided desired ranges.

The connecting duct which directs the flock-laden air stream into the chute is provided with a restriction as well as with a ring duct for directing air impulses into the duct via openings on opposite sides of the duct. The restriction causes the air stream to accelerate and, since the air flow is closer to one opening, rather than the other, a reduced pressure is created on that side. This, in turn, causes a pulse of air to travel from one end of the ring duct to the other. The air pulse continues into the connecting duct to deflect the flock-laden air stream towards the other opening. This sequence then continues in rapid fashion to allow an even deposit of the flock in the chute.

A method of, and apparatus for, maintaining substantially constant a quantity of opened fibrous material delivered per unit of time, to a spinning preparatory machine, wherein a conveying air stream is generated by means of a fan operating at a given point on its characteristic diagram, the conveying air stream is delivered into a transporting duct for the fibrous material, and the fibrous material is supplied into the transporting duct. The supplied fibrous material within the duct is accelerated by means of the conveying air stream, and the accelerated fibrous material is delivered within the duct in the direction of the spinning preparatory machine. There is determined the operating condition of the fan by measuring a parameter which is characteristic for the operation condition of the fan and depending on the quantity of fibrous material accelerated, the measured parameter is compared with a parameter corresponding to a desired quantity of opened fibrous material which is to be delivered per unit of time to the spinning preparatory machine, and upon deviation of the measured parameter from the set value parameter there is adjusted the further supply of fibrous material into the transporting duct until re-establishing a supply of fibrous material to said spinning preparatory machine corresponding to the substantially constant quantity of opened fibrous material desired to be delivered to the spinning preparatory machine.

The apparatus permits establishment of measuring values, yielding measuring values being representative of the material cross-section area solely of fiber slivers. A through-put duct converging, as seen, in the direction of transport of the fiber sliver is used into which two pressure measuring ducts merge at two measuring points at which the duct diameter is different. The two measuring ducts transmit measuring signals which are further processed in a division circuit means, which yields an output signal. The output signal is used for fiber sliver control or measuring purposes on machines processing fiber slivers or on spinning machines processing such fiber slivers further.

Apparatus for measuring a cross-sectional area of a travelling fiber

The method is used for producing measuring values depending on the linear density of a fiber sliver transported through a measuring funnel. A measuring signal transmitted from the measuring funnel is transformed into a proportional electric voltage signal and is continually integrated. The apparatus comprises a measuring funnel connected pneumatically with a pneumatic/electric transducer which transmits a signal to an integration circuit means. A control logic which cooperates with a gear of the transmission of the spinning preparatory machine is connected with the integrating circuit means via a proximity initiator which transmits an impulse to the control logic at each passage of a tooth. The integrating circuit means supplies measuring values suitable as a control signal for spinning preparatory machines, which signal is independent of the speed of the fiber sliver.

Method and apparatus for measuring the linear density of a travelling

A method of, and apparatus for, forming a fiber layer of substantially constant weight per unit length, there being provided supply means for supplying a fiber and air mixture onto a moving, fiber-separating, perforated surface. A suction opening is arranged beneath and extends over a certain zone or region of such perforated surface. The suction opening can be moved forward and backward with respect to the direction of transport of the fiber and air mixture by the perforated surface as a function of a measuring value which is representative of the thickness of the fiber layer deposited upon such perforated surface.

Weighing apparatus for continuously weighing a throughpassing layer of fiber material in a metering device of a spinning preparatory machine with two pairs of rolls arranged at a distance from one another for supplying the layer of fiber material to and for taking-off the layer of fiber material from a measuring zone between the pairs of rolls. There are provided two weighing plates, each of which is pivotable about an axle and connected with a measuring signal transmitter, the signal of which depends on the pivoting angle of the plate. An endless belt which contactingly glides across the weighing plates and which is driven at the speed of movement of the layer of fiber material is provided for transporting the layer of fiber material.

Weighing apparatus for continuously weighing a passing layer of fiber

A pneumatic measuring means is placed over the main cylinder to measure pressure variations due to changes in fiber layer thickness. The measured pressures are transmitted to a measuring and control means which compares the measured pressures to a pre-set value and produces a difference signal which is then used to control the card. The difference signal can be imposed on the supply means for the card, the doffing means or the drafting means.
