The present disclosure provides methods for purifying a solution comprising cantharidin and cantharidin-associated impurities. A method to purify the solution can comprise recrystallization or sublimation, for example. The purified cantharidin can be analyzed using a detection method comprising a stationary phase and one or more mobile phases.

In addition, the method may include measuring the oscillation of the resonator tine with the pickup transducer, and determining a density of the fluid based on the measured oscillation of the resonator tine. The method may also include determining a two-phase mixture quality based on the determined density.

The invention is directed to controlling a hydraulic actuation system having at least one degree of freedom, a prime mover, at least one actuation module and a controller, with each actuation module including: an over-center variable displacement pump having a power input connection configured to power the pump from the prime mover and a displacement varying input for varying the displacement of the pump; a displacement varying actuator configured to modulate the displacement varying input of the pump; an output actuator in direct communication with the pump, the output actuator configured to drive a corresponding degree of freedom; and at least one sensor establishing a feedback measurement that represents a force or motion of the output actuator. Based on a value of each feedback measurement, the force or motion of the output actuator is regulated by controlling the prime mover and the displacement actuator for the output actuator.

A gait orthotic device, such as a powered exoskeleton, includes at least one joint; at least one actuator configured to cause movement of the device at the joint; a cushioning mechanism coupled to the device for absorbing energy or spreading a force during an impact with a surface or object; and a controller. The controller is configured to determine when a fall is occurring and direct the actuator to: orient the device so the cushioning mechanism makes contact with the surface or object during the fall; or reduce a kinetic energy of the device during the fall by performing positive joint work. The cushioning mechanism can take various forms, including an airbag, a spring, a bumper, a roll bar or a kickstand. Preferably, the cushioning mechanism is an airbag in the form of an airbag module that is detachably coupled to the device for removal and replacement.

An exoskeleton device provides for selectively adjusting an exoskeleton hip pivot/pivot position in the sagittal plane relative to the position of the hip pivot of a wearer of the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton hip pivots/pivot positions can be shifted forward or rearward relative to the hip pivots of the wearer and can either be automatically actuated by an exoskeleton control system or manually adjusted by the exoskeleton wearer. The invention particularly allows for differential hip placement in order to compensate for changing load or actuation conditions.

Thus, a cursor location generated by movement of the computer mouse can be accepted in a memory of the computer either by activation of the mouse acceptance switch or the remote acceptance switch.

A myocardial lead for applying electrical pulses to a myocardium includes a relatively large electrode body of a metal, exhibiting high stress fatigue and corrosion resistance properties, a short stud of a metal containing platinum is partially inserted into the electrode body, with the stud portion extending out of the body defining the electrode pin. The stud is electron beam welded to the body. The myocardial lead also includes a distal wire, which consists of a plurality of flexible wire coils of the same metal as the electrode body and are covered by a flexible rubber sleeve. At one end, the wire coils pass through a cavity in the electrode body, with the coils' portion extending therefrom being wrapped around the electrode body and welded thereto. The distal wire extends to a source of electrical pulses. A platinum winding is wrapped around the electrode pin and is attached at one end to the electrode body. A rubber cover is molded around the electrode body and a portion of the distal wire near the electrode body, so that only the electrode platinum pin and several turns of the platinum winding extend therefrom through one side, while the rest of the distal wire extends outwardly from another side of the cover to the source of electrical pulses.

The master unit of an intercom in a building includes a digital code selector operating a digital coder for transmission of remote unit identification code signals to the intercom receivers of several remote units for alerting persons at such respective units. Each remote unit includes a receiver for receiving both conversation transmission and an identification code signal, reference signal means and a signal comparator for comparing identification code signals received by its receiver with its reference identification code signal. Reception by a remote unit of the appropriate identification code signal conditions its receiver to produce an audible call or alerting signal from an electronic call signal received by the receiver of that remote unit from the transmitter of the master unit. The call signal is generated electronically and supplied to the transmitter of the master unit for transmission to all of the remote units. Both the conversation transmission and the indentification code signals are transmitted over the conventional electrical power wiring of the building.
