Polyurethane foams formed at above atmospheric pressure conditions using methylene diisocyanate or a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) with a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols produces high density viscoelastic foams with improved hand touch (surface smoothness) that better retain viscoelasticity over time. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed at controlled pressures in the range 1.05 to 1.5 bar (absolute), preferably 1.1 to 1.3 bar (absolute).

Fine cell, high density viscoelastic polyurethane foams

Polyurethane foams formed under vacuum (below atmospheric pressure) conditions using a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) and a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols exhibit superb static shock cushioning characteristics (energy absorption) as illustrated by drop curves of deceleration versus static load. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed under controlled pressures in the range 0.5 to 0.90 bar (absolute), preferably 0.5 to 0.8 bar (absolute). A major portion of the MDI is 4, 4&prime; methylene diisocyanate.

Energy absorbing foams

Polyurethane foams formed under vacuum (below atmospheric pressure) conditions using methylene diisocyanate or a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) with a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols produces cushioning foams with lower density (1.4 to 1.8 pounds per cubic foot) and higher support factor (above 2.4). The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed under controlled pressures in the range 0.5 to 0.9 bar (absolute), preferably 0.6 to 0.8 bar (absolute). A major portion of the MDI is 4,4&prime; methylene diisocyanate.

Higher support, lower density cushioning foams

A collar attached around a nozzle has a pivot from which an arm extends. In a contracted position, the arm extends close along the nozzle toward the discharge end thereof to facilitate insertion of the nozzle into an opening of a tank. While in the opening, the arm is turned far enough, by an extension outside the opening, through an acute angle to contact the inside edge of the opening and therefore to force the nozzle in an opposite direction against the inside edge. A latch connected to the arm maintains, until the latch is released, the arm in an expanded or wedging position for retaining the nozzle in the opening. Another embodiment uses three arms evenly spaced for wedging the nozzle in a centered position in an opening.

Retaining assembly for fluid dispensing nozzles

An article of manufacture having utility as a toy for entertaining domestic cats. The toy includes an elongated housing having a top, a bottom and two spaced structures (such as walls) for connecting the top and bottom. The housing may be linear or it may be in the form of an annulus or a triangle or a figure 8 or some other 'closed loop' figure. At least one of the connecting structures has an elongated opening or slot through which a cat can insert a paw. The bottom of the housing has a configuration to support a ball in rolling contact. A ball is captured within the housing and is sized for rolling along the bottom of the housing. Also, the size of the ball is such that it will not pass through the elongated opening in the connecting structure, so that the cat may reach through the elongated opening in the connecting structure in order to swat the ball and cause it to roll within the housing, but the cat is prevented from extracting the ball from the housing. The preferred shape and size for the housing is an annulus having an ID of about 12 inches, so that the cat may curl up and sleep within the housing after it has tired of trying to capture the ball. A piece of carpet attached to a central panel is likely to foster the cat's use of the toy as a bed.

Toy for entertaining a cat

An exercise device includes a single elastic strand which is disposed to provide a pair of opposed, elongated, elastic side strands and elastic end cross-strands joining the side strands. A plurality of elastic, inner, cross-strands join the side strands at pre-selected intervals between the end cross strands. The inner cross strands include adjoining portions of the opposed elongated side strands. Grips enclose the end cross strands and inner cross strands.
