A method and system for assessing a student's reading ability is disclosed. An image-capturing device detects, from a worksheet comprising a position-identifying pattern, a first mark in a first region of the worksheet. The first mark is in a first indicator portion of the position-identifying pattern contained within a first indicator region that is associated with a first word. The image-capturing device detects a first note in a note region of the worksheet. Based on whether the first mark, the first note, or both indicates that the first word was read incorrectly or correctly, a processor determines a first reading assessment result for the first word and stores, in a memory, a digital document file comprising the first reading assessment result.

Method and system for capturing reading assessment data

A system and a method for generating individualized academic worksheets are provided. The method includes accessing a database of problems and student data relating to at least one student, including evaluation data associated with practice worksheets that were previously administered to the students. The method further includes selecting problems from the database using the evaluation data for each student and generating an individualized practice worksheet file including the selected problems. Each practice worksheet file includes instructions for printing a presentation of each problem and at least one evaluation area. The method further includes updating the evaluation data, wherein after a printed copy of a practice worksheet file is administered to the student, the evaluation areas of the printed copy are marked with evaluation marks by a human evaluator in accordance with the human evaluator's evaluation, and the updated evaluation data is based on the evaluation marks.

System and method for generating individualized educational practice worksheets

Methods and systems of clustering a plurality of students are disclosed. A computing device may receive assessment data for each of a plurality of students. The assessment data includes information pertaining to each of a plurality of questions in an assessment. The computing device may also receive a number of clusters into which to organize the plurality of students. The computing device may determine a similarity value between each pair of students in the plurality of students based on the assessment data associated with each student. The computing device may organize the plurality of students into the number of clusters based on the similarity values.

Methods and systems for clustering students based on their performance

An educational recommender system and a method for recommending an educational game to be used by a group of at least two students are provided. The method includes receiving a request to recommend an educational game to use with the group of students, and accessing student data relating to the at least two students including granular assessment data. The granular assessment data includes a result of at least one assessment administered to respective students, wherein each assessment includes a plurality of problems for assessing at least one of the students and the associated result includes an independent evaluation of each respective problem. The method further includes selecting an educational game that exercises the students in an academic area, including selecting the level of the academic area exercised based on granular assessment data associated with each of the respective students.

System and method for recommending educational resources

A system and method for making use of formative assessment data collected is disclosed that identifies clusters of students and concurrently determines the characteristics of the student clusters. A decomposition of the data is performed with spectral theories of graphs and fuzzy logic algorithms to identify the clusters of students, clusters of assessment data and relationships between them. An actionable output is presented to teachers for the evaluation of educational progress.

System for co-clustering of student assessment data

An educational recommender system and a method are provided. The method includes receiving a request to recommend a course of action related to a plurality of current students; accessing a computer database storing student data that corresponds to the plurality of current students; clustering in a computer process the plurality of current students into at least two clusters based at least on granular assessment data associated with student data corresponding to respective current students; and outputting the results of the clustering to a user. The granular assessment data includes a result of an assessment administered to respective students of the plurality of current students, and each assessment includes a plurality of questions for assessing one of the current students. The associated result includes an independent evaluation of each respective question of the plurality of questions.

A system is utilized to view and configure one or more print job scenarios within a print system. A preference module allows a user to select one or more preferences related to a print job in view of a job set and one or more limitations related to hardware within the print system. A rules component creates one or more rules for use within the print system to output a hard copy based at least in part upon the preferences selected via the preference module. A scheduler receives one or more rules from the rules component and configures the print system to execute the print job according to the preferences and/or the rules. A visualizer displays a scenario associated with each print system configuration, wherein the preferences and the rules can be edited to create one or more scenarios for execution of the print job.

A recommender system and method including receiving a request identifying at least one current student for which a recommendation is sought and accessing stored student data including attributes associated with respective students of the current students and a plurality of predecessor students. For the predecessor students the attributes include educational resources. The method includes clustering one of predecessor students and the current students into clusters based on sameness of first selected attributes of their respective associated attributes. The method includes generating a mapping between respective students of the other of the predecessor and current students and one of the clusters based on sameness of second selected attributes associated with the students being mapped. The method then includes recommending for each of the current students the educational resource associated with the predecessor student or cluster of predecessor students that the current student is mapped with.

A printing system includes at least one marking engine and a paper path which carries sheets of print media to the marking engine from an upstream direction and carries sheets of print media which have been marked by the marking engine in a downstream direction. A buffer system includes a sheet buffer in the paper path downstream of the marking engine and optionally includes another sheet buffer in the paper path upstream of the marking engine. The buffer system allows variability in the residence time of the marking engine to be accommodated by varying the residence time of sheets in the downstream buffer.

Using buffers to support uncertainties in marking engine execution

Method for printing pages within a booklet to improve the appearance of images on opposing pages includes sequencing images such that opposing pages are printed with the same print engine and/or fused the same number of times. Booklets include opposing pages having images fused the same number of times and/or printed with the same print engine as the image on the opposing page.

Face-to-face printing within booklet

A system suited to scheduling print jobs for a printing system includes a first processing component which identifies preliminary attributes of print jobs to be printed on sheets. A job scheduler receives the preliminary attributes and assigns each of the print jobs to one of a plurality of job queues in time order for printing. Print jobs spanning the same time are scheduled for printing contemporaneously. In one mode of operation, the assignment of the print jobs to the job queues is based on their preliminary attributes and on the application of at least one constraint which affects contemporaneous printing of at least two of the plurality of print jobs. A second processing component identifies detailed attributes of the print jobs. A sheet scheduler receives information on the assignments of the print jobs and their detailed attributes and forms an itinerary for each sheet to be printed.

Scheduling system

A printing system includes a plurality of printers, at least a first and a second of the plurality of printers printing in a first print modality. A scheduling system schedules printing of a set of pages by the plurality of printers. The set of pages, when assembled, may include pages where a high level of consistency is desired, such as facing pages or pages which are otherwise to be placed in close relationship. The scheduling system includes at least two scheduling modes, a first mode in which a consistency constraint is applied to the set of pages, and a second mode, different from the first mode, in which the consistency constraint is not applied. The printing system is configured for printing the set of pages in accordance with the first mode and in accordance with the second mode.

Printing systems

A method of printing includes processing a print job stream to identify one or more images to be printed on a first substrate. The first substrate has a substrate attribute, such as paper weight or surface roughness, which is different from that of a second substrate. A marking engine is selected to print the identified images on the selected first substrate. An operating parameter of the marking engine is modified from a set point for the second substrate to a modified set point for the first substrate, to accommodate the substrate attribute of the selected first substrate. The identified images are sent to the selected marking engine to be printed.

Automated modification of a marking engine in a printing system

According to one aspect of this disclosure, a printing apparatus and method is provided. The printing apparatus comprising a media sheet first inverter and a media sheet second inverter, the first inverter and second inverter operatively connected to provide a media sheet pass-through route, wherein the media sheet pass-through route transports a media sheet through the first inverter and the second inverter. According to another aspect of this disclosure, a printing system is disclosed. The printing system comprising an inverter module. The inverter module comprising a first media sheet input/output zone, and a second media sheet input/output zone, the first and second media sheet input/output zones operatively connected to provide a media sheet pass-through route. The inverter module is configured to selectably route a media sheet to a printing device for image transfer and the inverter module is configured to invert a media sheet from the printing device media sheet output.
