An air treatment system includes a recirculation line () through which air from the enclosed space can be recirculated, and a contaminant adsorption assembly () is provided in an auxiliary supply conduit (). In the event that contaminants are detected in atmospheric air, air from the enclosed space can be recirculated for conditioning and then readmitted to the enclosed space. Oxygen that is breathed by occupants of the enclosed space can be replenished by admitting air from atmosphere, which is treated using the adsorption assembly and then mixed with air that is in the enclosed space or being recirculated for admission to the enclosed space.

Air treatment system

A system for treating air for supply to an enclosed space in which the air is to be breathed, includes an inlet through which air can enter the system from atmosphere for supply to the enclosed space, and a regenerative adsorption assembly having at least two chambers which contain an adsorbent material, arranged so that air flowing in the inlet for supply to the enclosed space can pass through one of the chambers for adsorption of contaminants before supply to the enclosed space while adsorbent material in another of the chambers is purged of adsorbed contaminants. A recirculation path is provided for supplying air from the enclosed space to the inlet to be mixed with air from atmosphere before it is supplied to the enclosed space. The system includes structure for adjusting the resistance to flow of air through the recirculation path.

A gas dryer includes a housing, and a drying drum in the housing which is permeable to allow a flow of gas through the drum between its opposite first and second ends. A first flow guide is located at the first end of the drum and a second flow guide is located at the second end of the drum. The first and second flow guides define between them a primary region of the drum for a primary gas flow to flow through the drum, and a secondary region of the drum for a secondary gas flow to flow through the drum, and are mounted for rotation about the drum axis so that boundaries between the primary and secondary regions rotate around the drum. The permeable structure of the drying drum and the flow guides allow the primary and secondary gas flows to flow through their respective regions of the drum without significant mixing.

Gas dryer

A drum dryer comprises a drying drum which is arranged for a gas to flow through it to be dried from a first end of the drum to its opposite second end, and a housing in which the drum is located with a space around the drum between the internal wall of the housing and the external surface of the drum. Gas can be directed into the space through a housing inlet, to flow in the space to the first end of the drum where it can be admitted into the drum for drying.

Air conditioning system

Apparatus for separating contaminant from water, the contaminant being of lower density than water. The apparatus comprises a settlement chamber, initial separating means, and an entry port for introducing the liquid to be separated into the initial separating means for flow therethrough into the settlement chamber. A contaminant outlet opens from an upper region of the settlement chamber. A pump intake is located towards the lowermost part of the settlement chamber, and feeds a pump. The outlet from the pump is directed to a molecular separation filter capable of separating water from contaminant. Water discharges from the molecular separation filter, and can be further treated by an optional activated carbon filter. Contaminant leaving the molecular separation filter is directed back into the initial separating means.

Apparatus for separating contaminant from water

Apparatus for separating oil from an oil/water mixture. The mixture is introduced into a vessel through entry ports and passes through a coalescing filter, flowing therethrough into a settlement chamber. Separation of oil and water occurs in the chamber and oil flows therefrom through an outlet to a waste collection vessel. Water is taken from the lower part of the chamber through a pipe and passes through a sorbent bed prior to discharge through an outlet located at a level below the level of the oil outlet opening.

Apparatus for separating oil from an oil/water mixture

A support bracket for mounting a roll in a roll dispensing unit, comprises perpendicular arms, the edges of the arms for mounting the roll being curved to provide a desired degree of frictional resistance to rotation of the roll thereon. The curved edges may alternatively be provided by a rectangular plate secured to arm. The arms have integral portions to secure a cylindrical cover around the roll to be dispensed.

Roll dispenser unit

A filter element comprises a relatively rigid fluid-permeable cylinder (5), around which is provided a body (7) of non-woven fibrous filter material. A jacket (6) of permeable material is positioned around the outer surface of the filter material, and is heat-shrunk onto the filter material in order to hold this under substantially uniform radial compression over the whole of its area.

Filter element and method of making a filter element

A filter pack comprises a first housing member (1) having an inlet port and an outlet port (4) for compressed air; the outlet port being connectable to a piece of equipment, for example a spray gun. A second housing member (6) is removably fitted into the first housing member through an opening (5) therein and has a section (8) protruding from the opening. A retaining ring (12) releasably secures the two housing members together. The second housing member is at least partially filled with activated carbon filter material (18). A wall area (19) of the second housing member is formed with an inlet into the interior thereof, and the wall area combines with part of the first housing member to form a chamber (15) in communication with the inlet and outlet ports. The protruding section (8) of the second housing member has an outlet (9) for connection to an airline, the flow path from the inlet port to the outlet of the second housing member being through the chamber and then through the filter material. The outlet may be connected to a breathing mask by way of a regulator assembly (23).

Filters

Apparatus for removing entrained liquid from a gas stream comprises a cylindrical casing (67) designed to be mounted so that its axis is substantially vertical. An inlet port (62) and a gas outlet port (63) are provided adjacent to the upper end of the casing and drain means (80) are provided at the lower end of the casing whereby separated liquid may be drained therefrom. A gas outlet tube (75) coaxial with the inner surface of the casing, extends downwardly from the upper end thereof, the outlet tube communicating at its upper end with the gas outlet port (63). A plurality of baffles (72) are arranged in an annulus around the outer surface of the outlet tube (75), the baffles being located downstream of the inlet port (62) and shaped to impart a spinning movement to the incoming gas stream. An impingement plate (77) is located downstream of the baffles and has an upper surface extending transversely across the path of the air stream leaving the baffles. The lower end of the gas outlet tube (75) lies below the level of the impingement plate and above the level of the drain means.
