An order controller calculates an absolute value of a difference between a first counter value stored with a first next entry set to an active status in a first queue from among at least two queues and a second counter value stored with a second next entry set to the active status in a second queue. The order controller compares the absolute value with a counter midpoint value. The order controller, responsive to the absolute value being less than the counter midpoint value, selects a smaller value of the first counter value of the first counter value and the second counter value as a next event to process. The order controller, responsive to the absolute value being greater than or equal to the counter midpoint value, selects a larger value of the first counter value and the second counter value as the next event to process.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for initializing one or more components of a system, the system comprising an integrated circuit that comprises at least one processor, are disclosed. A method includes initializing at least one component of the system, determining a temperature of the integrated circuit using a temperature sensing device embedded on the integrated circuit, comparing the determined temperature to a predetermined suitable temperature operating range of at least one additional component to yield a comparison result, and initializing the at least one additional component based on the comparison result. The at least one additional component may be initialized on the condition that the determined temperature of the integrated circuit is within the predetermined suitable temperature operating range of the at least one additional component.

In response to receiving a selection to override an existing memory allocation of one or more regions of an external memory device within a memory register for a particular bridge from among multiple bridges within an integrated circuit, wherein the multiple bridges connect to a shared physical memory channel to the external memory device, a remap controller of the particular bridge reads, from a super rank register, one or more super rank values specifying one or more relocation regions of the external memory device connected to an interface of the integrated circuit. The remap controller remaps the memory register for the particular bridge with the one or more super rank values specified in the super rank register to relocate memory accesses by the bridge to the one or more relocation regions of the external memory device.

Responsive to selecting a particular queue from among at least two queues to place an incoming event into within a particular entry from among multiple entries ordered upon arrival of the particular queue each comprising a separate collision vector, a memory address for the incoming event is compared with each queued memory address for each queued event in the other entries in the at least one other queue. Responsive to the memory address for the incoming event matching at least one particular queued memory address for at least one particular queued event in the at least one other queue, at least one particular bit is set in a particular collision vector for the particular entry in at least one bit position from among the bits corresponding with at least one row entry position of the at least one particular queued memory address within the other entries.

Managing out-of-order memory command execution from multiple queues while maintaining data coherency

An order controller stores each received event in a separate entry in one of at least two queues with a separate counter value set from an arrival order counter at the time of storage, wherein the arrival order counter is incremented after storage of each of the received events and on overflow the arrival order counter wraps back to zero. The order controller calculates an absolute value of the difference between a first counter value stored with an active first next entry in a first queue from among the at least two queues and a second counter value stored with an active second next entry in a second queue from among the at least two queues. The order controller compares the absolute value with a counter midpoint value to determine whether the first counter value was stored before the second counter value.

Computer implemented method, system and computer usable program code for processing a data request in a data processing system. A read command requesting data is received from a requesting master device. It is determined whether a cache of a processor can provide the requested data. Responsive to a determination that a cache of a processor can provide the requested data, the requested data is routed to the requesting master device on an intervention data bus of the processor separate from a read data bus and a write data bus of the processor.

A microprocessor circuit is disclosed for instructions on an arithmetic/shift function performing standard operations (e.g., ALU instructions or Shift instructions) on instructions in a first cycle of operation, and a correction circuit responsive to the arithmetic/shift function for modifying the standard results provided by the arithmetic/shift function to results required by a SIMD instruction being executed. The arithmetic/shift function is an instruction provided by either an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) or by a shift instruction. The correction circuit passes data, unchanged for logical instructions but provides condition codes according to the SIMD instruction.

Performing SIMD shift and arithmetic operation in non-SIMD architecture

The detection and selection of the appropriate branch target address in a branch history table in super scalar microprocessor is simplified by reducing the complexity of the branch history table selection logic and providing a structure which is extendible to larger instruction fetch block sizes. This is accomplished by introducing a branch pattern field into the branch history table entry which indicates the presence of other branches (branches not defined by the current entry) within the instruction fetch block.

A data processor processes data strings from memory where the data strings do not begin or end at a memory boundary. A string is defined in memory by a starting address, a byte count defining the total number of bytes in the string, and a byte offset defining the position of the first byte in the starting address location. The processor stores the byte count and decrements the byte count as each multi-byte word is processed. A byte count mask circuit generates a byte count mask which has all 1s for each byte count greater than the number of bytes per memory word. When the number of bytes remaining to be processed is below the number of bytes in a memory word, the byte count mask generates 1s only for the positions corresponding to the positions of bytes of the string in the last memory word. An offset register stores the offset defining the position of the first byte in the first memory word of the string. The offset is used to shift the byte count mask by a number of positions corresponding to the position of the first byte of the string and inserts 0s in the byte count mask for positions not belonging to the string. A byte-by-byte comparator determines string end conditions and provides an output word with a significant bit indication for each byte for which an end condition has been detected. The output of the byte-by-byte comparator is combined with the shifted byte count mask, and the result is decoded by means of a prioritized decoder which generates a string write mask.
