A method includes receiving a first signal at an input of a device driver included at an electronic device, the first signal representing first information. A second signal representing the first information is provided at an output of the device driver. The output of the device driver, under normal operating conditions, is coupled to an output terminal of the electronic device. A third signal at the output terminal is received at feedback circuitry of the electronic device. The feedback circuitry identifies a fault at the output terminal based on the third signal and the first signal.

Method for identifying a fault at a device output and system therefor

A system includes a magnetic field sense element for detecting an external magnetic field and a magnetic field source proximate the magnetic field sense element for providing a reference magnetic field. The magnetic field sense element produces a composite signal having reference and measurement signal portions, the reference signal portion being indicative of the reference magnetic field and the measurement signal portion being indicative of the external magnetic field. A power supply provides a supply current through the magnetic field source for continuously generating the reference magnetic field while the system is in an operational mode. A processing circuit processes the composite signal to produce a measurement output signal indicative of the external magnetic field. A qualification circuit, coupled with the processing circuit at multiple test points, detects the reference signal portion at the multiple test points and determines operability of the system from the detected reference signal portion.

System and method for sensor diagnostics during functional operation

A system includes a magnetic sense element for detecting an external magnetic field and a magnetic field source proximate the magnetic sense element for providing an internal magnetic field that is detectable by the magnetic sense element. The system selectively functions in-situ in either of an operational mode and a standstill mode. The magnetic sense elements detects the external magnetic field in the operational mode. The external magnetic field is not available for detection in the standstill mode, and the internal magnetic field is provided only when the system is in the standstill mode. The system further includes a processing circuit that processes an output signal produced by the magnetic sense element in response to the internal magnetic field to determine operability of the system and to detect failures within the entire signal processing chain.

Magnetic field sensor systems and method of determining operability of same

A device comprising includes an output terminal and a first current path from the output terminal to a first reference voltage. The first current path includes a series connection of current electrodes of a first transistor and a second transistor. The first transistor receives at a control electrode a signal to set a desired level of current to be conducted by the first current path. The second transistor generates at a control electrode a feedback signal indicative of an actual current conducted by the first transistor.

A method for transmitting a measured value in a data transmission signal, the method including: introduction of the measured value into the data transmission signal; introduction of error information after said measured value into the data transmission signal, from which information it can be deduced whether the measured value contains an error; and introduction of evaluation information which describes the error information into the data transmission signal after the error information, if the measured value contains an error.

Method for monitoring a transmission link

A sensor system for sensing a physical quantity is disclosed. The sensor system includes a first sensor path comprising a first first sensing element and a second first sensing element and a first intermediate node being provided in between the first first sensing element and the second first sensing element. The sensor also includes a second sensor path comprising a first second sensing element and a second second sensing element and a second intermediate node being provided in between the first second sensing element and the second second sensing element. A third sensor path is provided and comprises a first third sensing element and a second third sensing element and a third intermediate node being provided in between the first third sensing element and the second third sensing element. A signal processing device is also included.

Sensor system with a three half-bridge configuration

A circuit arrangement for monitoring an output load (,) of a digital-to-analog current converter (,). The digital-to-analog converter supplies an analog output current dependent on a digital comparison data word to a first resistor (,) and, if present, to the output load (,) arranged in parallel with the first resistor. In order to provide a continuous monitoring of the output load, a digital first comparator (,) compares the data words applied to the digital-to-analog current converter (,) with at least one comparison data word. An analog second comparator (,) compares the voltage drop across the first resistor with at least one reference voltage and applies its output signal to a flip-flop (,). A comparison circuit (,) monitors the magnitude and/or the presence of the output load dependent on the output signals of the first comparator and the flip-flop.

Circuit arrangement for monitoring an output load

A circuit checks the value and the existence of an external load of a digital-to-analog current converter. A first comparator compares a digital word to be converted, with a comparison data word. The output signal of the first converter indicates during which periods the digital data word is greater and during which periods it is smaller than the comparison data word. A second comparator compares the voltage at the output of the converter with a reference voltage. The output signal of the second converter indicates during which periods the output voltage is greater and during which periods it is smaller than the reference voltage. A comparison circuit checks the existence and the value of the output load by comparing the time periods indicated by the output signals of the two converters. Thus, a conclusion about the existence and the value of the output load is possible at any time.

Circuit arrangement including digital-to-analog current converters

In a phase-locked loop comprising a phase detector (1), a loop filter (5) and a controlled oscillator (17) which are arranged on a common integrated circuit, interferences coupled into the substrate of the integrated circuit by other parts of the circuit are suppressed. In a first embodiment of the invention, this object is achieved in that the controlled oscillator (17) is preceded by a capacitive voltage divider (9) which comprises at least two capacitances (10, 12), the controlled oscillator (17) is controlled in dependence upon the output signal of the capacitive voltage divider (9), and the capacitive voltage divider (9), together with the phase detector (1), the loop filter (5) and the controlled oscillator (17) is arranged on an integrated circuit. In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention, the reduction of interference is achieved in that the controlled oscillator (17) has a differential structure and comprises at least two voltage-controlled current sources (18, 19) whose circuits are coupled to a power supply potential and to a substrate on which the integrated circuit is arranged, the controlled oscillator (17) has an output stage (20) which is arranged behind the voltage-controlled current sources (18, 19) and generates two differential digital signals in dependence upon the differential signals applied thereto, which differential digital signals are generated with a high edge steepness by means of switching between two potentials and are applied to amplifier stages (56, 57) which are arranged between power supply potential and reference potential and supply two differential output signals operating at reference potential.

The selection logic (30) constantly determines the signal having the middle instantaneous amplitude of the signals applied to the comparator stage on the basis of the comparison signals, and applies this signal to the medium filter output.
