A method, system and apparatus for beamforming techniques that use approximate channel decomposition are disclosed. According to one aspect, a wireless device is provided. The wireless device includes processing circuitry configured to use a non-constant modulus, NCM, precoder of a NCM codebook to transmit on a physical channel where the NCM codebook is based at least in part on a constant modulus, CM, codebook and a plurality of NCM component matrices, and where the plurality of NCM component matrices are based at least in part on a NCM component matrix mathematical expression, and where an approximate decomposition element-wise product of a CM component matrix mathematical expression and the NCM component matrix mathematical expression corresponds to a channel decomposition matrix.

Beamforming technique using approximate channel decomposition

A method performed by a wireless device for determining an identity of the wireless device, MsgB RNTI, in a wireless communications network during a random access procedure is provided. The wireless device transmits a random access preamble on a RACH at a random access occasion. It also transmits a message on a PUSCH that corresponds to the random access preamble. Further, the wireless device determines an MsgB RNTI as the sum of a first identity, RA-RNTI, and an offset that is an integer greater than 1, wherein the RA-RNTI is based on a sum comprising terms corresponding to at least the index of a first OFDM symbol, the index of a frequency resource, and the index of a first time slot that identifies the time/frequency resources of the random access occasion.

Wireless device, a network node, and methods therein for determining an identity of a wireless device during a random access procedure

Methods, a base station, and a terminal device for a two-step random access procedure are disclosed. The base station transmits a first message indicating a subcarrier spacing (SCS) of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) which is to be used for a second message in the two-step random access procedure, through an air interface. The SCS of the PUSCH is same as an SCS used for message 3 in a four-step random access procedure. The base station receives the second message based on the SCS of the PUSCH through the air interface in the two-step random access procedure.

Methods, base station and terminal device for two-step random access procedure

Buffer Status Reports (BSR), by which the network is made aware of uplink transmission needs of wirless devices, are specifically enabled to be transmitted using 2-step Random Access (RA), to reduce latency and network resource use. In one embodiment, 2-step RA configurations tailored to BSR-transmissions are introduced. These may, for example, use a subset of the configured resources in the configured 2-step RA resources for BSR. In another embodiment, conditions for triggering BSR over 2-step RA, depending on the traffic, are introduced. For example, the priority or the the delay budget of the traffic may be used to determine whether a BSR over 2-step RA should be triggered. In another embodiment, simplified procedures when receiving the response to MsgA are introduced. These may include, for example, not transmitting a full MsgB, but rather having the UE receive an UL grant.

Efficient buffer status reporting over 2-step RA

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for random access. The method which may be performed by a terminal device comprises performing a transmission of a message to a network node in a random access procedure. The transmission of the message may comprise transmission of a preamble and transmission of a payload on a shared channel. The method further comprises receiving a response message from the network node. In response to the response message, the terminal device may perform a retransmission of the payload on the shared channel to the network node according to retransmission configuration.

Method and apparatus for random access

An extended power class for Uplink (UL) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) communications is provided. In this regard, a User Equipment (UE) configured to UL MIMO can indicate support for a first power class corresponding to a first power level. The UE can transmit a single layer Physical UL Shared Channel (PUSCH) on one antenna port at a power that is at most a first power level corresponding to the first power class. The UE can also transmit an N-layer PUSCH on N antenna ports at a second power level greater than the first power level. With the extended power class, UEs are able to deliver higher power signals without increasing the maximum power of their Power Amplifiers (PAs). This greater power can lead to better user experience, less battery drain, and higher network capacity.

Extended power class for uplink (UL) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for random access. The method which may be performed by a terminal device comprises performing a first transmission of a message from the terminal device to a network node in a random access procedure, according to first configuration information. The first transmission of the message comprises a transmission of a first preamble and a transmission of a payload on a shared channel. The method further comprises performing a second transmission of the message from the terminal device to the network node in the random access procedure, according to second configuration information. The second transmission of the message comprises at least one of: a transmission of a second preamble and a retransmission of the payload on the shared channel.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus and computer program products for transmitting and receiving an uplink signal on physical control channel. A method comprises: determining that a terminal device has a capability of transmitting the uplink signal on physical control channel in at least a first time instant and a second time instant coherently; performing a first transmission of the uplink signal on physical control channel in the first time instant in a first set of subcarriers; and performing a second transmission of the uplink signal on physical control channel in the second time instant in a second set of subcarriers.

Method and apparatus for PUCCH coverage enhancement

The present disclosure provides a method in a User Equipment of transmitting a random access preamble and a physical uplink shared channel, comprising: determining a resource size to be used to contain the physical uplink shared channel, the resource size being one of a set of predetermined sizes; identifying a resource to be used from a predetermined set of resources, the resource in the set of resources corresponding to the determined resource size, each resource being identified with a respective first index n and occupying a distinct set of OFDM symbols and subcarriers; identifying a PRACH preamble with a second index n' corresponding to the first index n of the identified resource; and transmitting the identified PRACH preamble, and the physical uplink shared channel in the identified resource.

A method at a network device comprises determining a format of downlink control information (DCI) used for scheduling of downlink shared channel in a 2-step random access procedure. The method further comprises determining an identifier used for scrambling cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of the format of DCI. The identifier comprises at least one of a common identifier or a specific identifier. The method further comprises transmitting information regarding a scheduled downlink shared channel with the format of DCI with the CRC scrambled by the identifier on a downlink control channel to at least one terminal device.

A method of transmitting a Random Access Channel (RACH) Occasion configuration to a terminal device and receiving a RACH preamble according to the RACH Occasion configuration. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for random access procedure. A method at a user equipment (UE) comprises selecting a synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel block (SSB) with a signal measured metric satisfying a criterion. The method further comprises transmitting a first message including a random access channel (RACH) preamble on a RACH occasion and data on an uplink shared channel (USCH) to a base station. The RACH preamble and the RACH occasion are selected based on a mapping of the SSB to the RACH preamble and the RACH occasion. The method further comprises receiving a second message from the base station as a response to the first message.

Method and apparatus for random access procedure

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining a power to be used for a set of antenna ports for a physical uplink shared channel transmission. In some embodiments, a User Equipment (UE) comprises processing circuitry configured to derive a power P to be used for uplink power control for a physical uplink shared channel transmission and determine a power to be used for a set of antenna ports based on the power P according to a rule that depends on whether the UE is utilizing codebook based transmission or non-codebook based transmission for the physical uplink shared channel transmission. The set of antenna ports is antenna ports on which the physical uplink shared channel transmission is transmitted with non-zero power.

Power control for new radio uplink single-user multiple-input-multiple-output communication

According to some aspects of the techniques disclosed herein, a UE adapted to transmit on different antenna subsets transmits an indication that the UE can transmit a number of distinct RS resources, where each of the RS resources comprises at least one RS port. The UE transmits capability information indicating that the UE is capable of transmitting simultaneously on multiple RS resources and/or receives first and second RS configurations, where the first RS configuration is a first list of SRS resources that at least correspond to RS resource indications used for PUSCH transmission, and the second RS configuration is a second list of RS resources that may be used for SRS transmission. According to some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for transmitting multiple layers of an uplink physical channel comprises transmitting to a network node an indication of a capability to operate according to a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation. In the first mode a codebook subset comprises precoding matrices with at most one non-zero elements per column, and in the second mode the codebook subset comprises precoding matrices with at most two non-zero elements per column. The codebook subset is in a codebook for use when transform precoding of a physical channel is disabled. The method further comprises receiving a configuration from the network node for a selected mode of operation, and transmitting the physical channel using transform precoding and, at least when transmitting with two layers, using the codebook subset comprising the precoding matrices of the selected mode.
