A method, apparatus and system for improving co-channel operation of simultaneously operating, independent radio signals. The method, apparatus and system receive at least two co-channel RF signals, perform motion compensated correlation upon at least one of the at least two co-channel RF signals, and determine the direction of arrival of the at least one of the at least two co-channel RF signals. In response to the direction of arrival determined for the at least one of the at least two co-channel RF signals, an action to perform to improve co-channel operation of the at least two co-channel RF signals at a subject receiver is determined.

Method and apparatus for improving co-channel operation of independent radio systems

A method for performing in a positioning, navigation, tracking, frequency-measuring, or timing system is provided. The method comprises: providing first and second estimates of at least one system parameter during a first time period, wherein the at least one system parameter has a true value and/or true evolution over time during the first time period; providing a local signal; receiving, at a receiver, a signal from a remote source; providing a correlation signal by correlating the local signal with the received signal; providing amplitude and/or phase compensation of at least one of the local signal, the received signal and the correlation signal based on each of the first and second estimates so as to provide first and second amplitude-compensated and/or phase-compensated correlation signals corresponding to the first and second estimates of the at least one system parameter during the first time period, and; determining which of the first and second estimates is nearer the true value and/or true evolution over time of the at least one system parameter during the first time period, based on a comparison between the first and second amplitude-compensated and/or phase-compensated correlation signals. Method and system for calibrating a system parameter

A method and apparatus for improving signal reception in a radio signal receiver is provided. The method comprises: receiving a signal from one or more remote sources; determining movement of the receiver; obtaining first and second phasor sequences indicative of the determined movement of the receiver in first and second directions; generating a third phasor sequence based on a weighted combination of the first and second phasor sequences in accordance with the first and second directions; and providing a correlation signal using the third phasor sequence, wherein providing the correlation signal comprises correlating a local signal with the received signal, and combining at least one of the local signal, received signal, and the result of the correlation with the third phasor sequence, such that a signal received along the second direction is suppressed relative to a signal received along the first direction. A corresponding positioning system is also disclosed.

Method, system and computer program product for performing correlation in a positioning system

A system is disclosed for determining a physical metric such as position. The system comprises a local signal generator () configured to provide a local signal and a receiver () configured to receive a signal having properties corresponding to those in a signal transmitted by a trusted remote source. An inertial measurement unit () is configured to provide a measured or assumed movement of the receiver. A correlator () is configured to provide a correlation signal by correlating the local signal with the received signal. A motion compensation unit () is configured to provide motion compensation of at least one of the local signal, the received signal, and the correlation signal based on the measured or assumed movement. A signal analysis unit () is configured to determine whether the received signal includes a component received in a direction that is different to a line-of-sight direction between the receiver and the trusted remote source, wherein the determination is based on the correlation signal. Finally, a metric determination unit or positioning unit () is configured to determine a physical metric associated with the receiver, such as its position, based on the determination made by the signal analysis unit ().
