A cover assembly for an internal combustion engine application and method of construction therefore provides one construction for a valve cover assembly, and another construction for an end cover assembly for a crankcase. The cover assemblies include at least one rigid metal carrier having a plurality of bolt openings and a plurality of load limiters located about said openings. A material is overmolded on the carrier and about the load limiters, with the material forming an exposed sealing surface for direct engagement with a seal gasket.

Plastic cover having metal reinforcement for internal combustion engine applications and method of construction

The subject invention discloses a sealing assembly that includes a first component and a second component moveable into and out of mating engagement to form a seal therebetween. The first component has a first sealing surface defining a groove and a sealing bead extends upwardly a predetermined height therefrom. The sealing bead is molded within the groove. The second component has a second sealing surface defining a recess for contacting the sealing bead. When the first and the second components are brought into mating engagement, the sealing bead compresses at most 40% of the predetermined height when the second sealing surface contacts the sealing bead.

Seal assembly

An oil reservoir for a vehicle transmission includes a separately formed oil pan and suction tube each formed of plastics material. A filter cartridge is disposed about a lower end portion of the suction tube to filter oil entering an oil inlet of the suction tube at the lower end. The suction tube and floor of the oil pan have snap-together connecting structure. To assemble the suction tube with the floor of the oil pan, the tube is simply pressed toward the pan causing the connecting structure to engage with a snap-fit connection.
