A method to enable a vehicle's embedded USB Host system to connect to multiple mobile devices through a USB Hub, regardless of whether the mobile devices are configured to act as USB Hosts or USB Devices, without USB On the Go (OTG) controllers or additional vehicle wiring or inhibiting the functionality of any consumer devices connected to the same USB Hub. Preferably, the method is configured to provide that no additional cabling or hardware changes to accommodate this capability. The method can be employed between a vehicle's embedded USB Host, USB Hub and at least one consumer accessible USB port. When the consumer device is acting as a USB Host, signals between the consumer device and the vehicle's embedded USB Host are processed through a USB bridge, thereby rendering the consumer device compatible with the vehicle's embedded USB Host.

Flexible mobile device connectivity to automotive systems with USB hubs

An electrical power supply device is configured to communicate with a start-stop controller that automatically shuts down and restarts an internal combustion engine in a vehicle. The device includes a DC-DC power convertor and a device controller. The DC-DC power convertor is configured to produce a first voltage or a second voltage that is less than the first voltage. The device controller causes the DC-DC power convertor to produce the first voltage in response to a first signal from the start-stop controller indicating that the input voltage will remain equal to or greater than the threshold voltage and also causes the DC-DC power convertor to produce the second voltage in response to a second signal from the start-stop controller indicating that the input voltage may become less than the threshold voltage.

A method of operating the electrical power supply device is also presented.

A dual-mode encoder. The encoder includes a logic device. The logic device includes a first input terminal for receiving a signal associated with an audio source, a second input terminal for receiving a mode instruction signal, and an output terminal for outputting an encoded signal. Apparatus and method for vehicle system interface

A vehicle system interface comprises an antenna configured to receive a digital radio signal, a digital radio receiver circuit configured to receive the digital radio signal from the antenna and to obtain digital audio data from the digital radio signal, an FM modulator and transmitter circuit, and a microprocessor in operable communication with the digital radio receiver circuit and the FM modulator and transmitter circuit. The microprocessor is configured to generate a first message requesting a series of FM radio signal levels and the microprocessor is also configured to select a suitable FM radio frequency from the series of FM radio frequencies. The microprocessor is also configured to induce the FM modulator and transmitter circuit to broadcast the digital audio data in an FM radio signal over the suitable FM radio frequency.

Apparatus and method for FM wireless vehicle system interface

A voltage power supply circuit is provided that uses the voltage output of an oscillator to provide a high voltage DC output to drive a liquid crystal display device. A controller IC opens and closes an FET to allow the EMF of an inductor to generate a DC voltage that exceeds the battery voltage source for the liquid crystal display device. Accordingly, the oscillator circuit that drives a back light display for a liquid crystal device is simultaneously used to generate the high voltage DC source for the liquid crystal display device.

The heating element may be a resistive material coated on a substrate. The present invention also relates to a portable display device element includes a liquid crystal display, a fluorescent lamp to act as a backlight, a heating element which does not contact the fluorescent lamp and optionally including reflectors, diffusers, and optical enhancement films. The heating element may be a resistive material coated on a substrate.
