The invention relates to an anchor hook and methods of using the same for subannular anchoring of a transcatheter heart valve replacement, and in particular for an orthogonally delivered (side-delivered) transcatheter prosthetic heart valve having a annular support frame having compressible wire cells that facilitate rolling and folding the valve length-wise, or orthogonally to the central axis of the flow control component, allowing a very large diameter valve to be delivered and deployed to the mitral or tricuspid valve from the inferior vena cava or superior vena cava, or trans-septally to the mitral valve, the valve having a height of about 5-60 mm and a diameter of about 25-80 mm, without requiring an oversized diameter catheter and without requiring a delivery catheter to bend 90 degrees during deployment.

In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a tether attachment member that includes a base member that defines at least a portion of a tether passageway through which a portion of a tether extending from a prosthetic heart valve can be received therethrough. The base member defines a locking pin channel that intersects the tether passageway. A locking pin is disposable within the locking pin channel and movable between a first position in which the locking pin is at a spaced distance from the tether passageway, and a second position in which the locking pin intersects the tether passageway and can engage the portion of a tether disposed therein to secure the tether to the tether attachment member.

A prosthetic heart valve includes a valve frame defining an aperture that extends along a central axis and a flow control component mounted within the aperture. The valve frame has a compressed configuration to allow the valve to be delivered to a heart of a patient via a delivery catheter. The valve frame is configured to transition to an expanded configuration when released from the delivery catheter. The valve is configured to be seated in a native annulus when the valve frame is in the expanded configuration. The distal and proximal anchoring elements configured to be inserted through the native annulus prior to seating the valve. The proximal anchoring element is ready to be deployed subannularly or is optionally configured to be transitioned from a first configuration to a second configuration after the valve is seated.

A side-deliverable prosthetic valve includes an outer frame, a flow control component mounted within the outer frame, and an anchoring element coupled to a distal side of the outer frame. The prosthetic valve is foldable along a longitudinal axis and compressible along a central axis to a compressed configuration for side delivery via a delivery catheter and is expandable to an expanded configuration when released from the delivery catheter. An end portion of the anchoring element is configured to engage a guide wire. Side-deliverable transcatheter prosthetic valves and methods for delivering and anchoring the same

This invention relates to the design and function of a compressible valve replacement prosthesis, collared or uncollared, which can be deployed into a beating heart without extracorporeal circulation using a transcatheter delivery system. The design as discussed focuses on the deployment of a device via a minimally invasive fashion and by way of example considers a minimally invasive surgical procedure preferably utilizing the intercostal or subxyphoid space for valve introduction.
