A blending system includes a container and a tamper. The container includes a lid. The tamper may be inserted into the container through an aperture of the lid. The tamper extends towards but does not touch a blade assembly. The tamper is positionable in a vertical position and an angled position. The tamper includes a stop that prevents the tamper from touching the blade assembly in the first position. Another stop prevents the tamper from touching the blade in a second position. The tamper may reach toward the edges of the container in an angled position to manipulate foodstuffs.

A food processing assembly () includes a base member (), a container () and a cover (). The base member () has a platform portion () adapted to carry the container () and a housing portion () for a motor. A wall () of the housing () has a plurality of air inlet slots () and a gutter () protects the slots () from receiving any liquid which might be on the base member (). The container () has a sidewall () with an open top that has a peripheral rim (). A cover () includes a tab assembly () that has a notch () to receive the rim (). The vertical lifting of a handle portion () of the tab assembly () removes the cover () from the container (). A spout () and a handle () are formed near the top of the container (). A heat shield () includes a body portion () which is attached to the sidewall () at a location under the spout (), and it also includes a flap (). The body portion () protects the hand of the user when engaging the sidewall () of the container () and the flap () protects the hand of the user from drippings from the spout ().

An enclosure for a blender includes a body portion and a cover. The cover is hingedly attached to the body portion. The body portion of the enclosure includes a metallic foot that mates with the base member of the blender. The base member may include at least one magnet that secures the foot, and therefore body portion, in position by the magnetic force acting upon the foot. A gasket is provided between the foot of the body portion and the base member to completely isolate the enclosure from the base member, and to reduce vibrations in the enclosure during operation of the blender. The body portion of the enclosure may also include gasket strips to seal the enclosure when the cover is closed.

A container () for a blender includes a base surface () and a blade () which is rotatable on an axis above the base surface (). An arcuate wall () and two generally straight walls () extend upwardly from the base surface () and terminate at the upper end of container (). The axis of rotation of the blade () is closer to the arcuate wall () than it is to the generally straight walls (). A skirt () extends downwardly from the base surface () and has an opening. Sound baffling fingers () extend from the skirt () and into the opening. A spout () is formed at the intersection of two of the walls (), the spout () having an entry point located approximately twenty to thirty percent of the height of the walls () from the upper end of the container (). A handle () is positioned opposite to the spout () and a cover () includes a plug () to close the spout ().

A machine () for mixing food products includes a motor () which turns a hollow shaft assembly () that carries an agitator (). The agitator () has an I-beam shaped stem () with a blade () in the shape of the bowl of a spoon on one end of the stem (). A socket () is formed at the other end of the stem () and has a bottom surface (). An assembly () for releasing the agitator () from the shaft assembly () includes a solenoid () which pivots an arm () that engages a plunger (). The plunger () includes a pin () which is received in the hollow shaft assembly () and which engages the bottom surface () of the socket () of the agitator () upon activation of the solenoid () to release the agitator () from the hollow shaft assembly ().

A base for a blender housing a motor and including controls for operation of the blender. The base includes an air intake, an air exhaust, and a baffle, wherein the air exhaust and baffle are formed as a part of the bottom of the blender base and act to reduce the sound emitted by the blender. The bottom of the blender base includes an internal cavity defined partially by a support flange where heated air is exhausted. The air is then forced to change directions before exiting through exhaust ports.

A food mixer () includes a rotatable shaft () which carries a coupler () having an aperture () therein. An agitator () is configured as a spoon having a bowl () and a stem (). The stem () is received in the aperture () and in one embodiment a flexible tab () at the end of the stem () is engaged by a lug () in the aperture () to attach the agitator () to the coupler (). In another embodiment, flexible tines () have lugs () which are received in a bore () in a coupler () to attach the agitator () to the coupler ().
