An inside-outside quench arrangement is disclosed for long steel pipe which utilizes a tangential quench arrangement to cool the pipe's outside surface and an axial flow nozzle to cool the pipe's inside surface at approximately the same cooling rate. The O.D. quench arrangement includes a manifold carrying jet nozzles circumscribing the pipe which can be pivoted apart to permit a four-bar linkage mechanism to smoothly and efficiently transfer the pipe into and out of the arrangement for quenching. A roller drive arrangement rotates the pipe in a longitudinally stationary position to minimize pipe bow and enhance pipe cooling.

Apparatus for inside-outside tube quenching

A device is described for filtering zinc powder from an airstream which is exhausted from a galvanizing process. The device comprises an enclosed chamber to which the airstream is circulated for removal of zinc powder. The chamber has a horizontally disposed bottom surface in which there is a plurality of circular openings which are equally spaced about a vertical center axis and which lead to vertically disposed bag-type filters. An arm is coupled to a vertical drive shaft which is rotatable about the center axis. The arm is designed to move a circular cover from opening-to-opening to individually seal the openings from the chamber, so that the filters can be cleaned of zinc powder. The cover is freely mounted on the distal end of the arm such that the cover is supported on the bottom surface of the chamber as it moves in an arcuate pathway between the filter openings.

Device for cleaning a filter used in conjunction with a galvanizing

The present invention is a rotary heat exchanger core for use with a rotary heat exchanger. The core comprises a plurality of discs having passages for axial fluid flow. The discs are axially aligned and connected with a space between adjacent discs. There is a means to prevent circumferential fluid flow in the space between adjacent discs. Preferably the discs are connected in a moving relationship relative to each other to help compensate for thermal movements and dimensional changes resulting from thermal expansion and contraction.
