An industrial vacuum system which is contained in a portable container having a bottom and an open end and includes an extension unit having a first end operatively connected to the portable container and a second end that is selectively extendable away from the container, a collection unit rotatively coupled to first ends of the extension unit, a transportation unit coupling the extension unit to the container, the transportation unit having one end rotatively coupled to the end of the extension unit the transportation unit including a plurality of wheel units, and a trolley guidance unit having a rail attached to the bottom of the container and engaging the wheels of the wheel unit. Where the collection unit and extension unit completely move into the portable container via the transportation unit, the rails of the trolley guidance unit include a shelf having an upper surface and a lower surface, and the wheel units include at least two upper wheels in contact with the upper surface of the transportation guide unit and at least two lower wheels in contact with the lower surface of the shelf.

A portable, convertible apparatus for creating either a negative pressure or a positive pressure in and filtering the air in a room, the apparatus comprising a housing having upper and lower ends. The housing defines an air flow path between the upper and lower ends and contains, within the air flow path, a HEPA filter and a fan. A dome-shaped inlet grille is mounted on the upper end of the housing, and a cylindrical outlet grille is mounted on the lower end of the housing. The apparatus also includes an annular cover for the outlet grille, which cover is adapted to communicate with the exterior of the room, and a dome-shaped cover for the inlet grille, which cover is adapted to communicate with the exterior of the room. The apparatus creates a negative pressure in the room when the annular cover is placed over the outlet grille and the dome-shaped cover is removed, and creates a positive pressure in the room when the annular cover is removed and the dome-shaped cover is placed over the inlet grille.

Apparatus for filtering air and for creating a positive/negative pressure

A self-cleaning asbestos collection system comprises a covered hopper, and enclosed housing, and a slide gate valve. The slide valve has a valve gate that is operable between a latched position in sealing contact with the hopper mouth and an unlatched position. An over center lock in the latching mechanism assures positive latching. A second mechanism is operable when the valve gate is unlatched to reciprocate the valve gate between positions wherein it covers and uncovers the housing mouth. The housing has a spout under the hopper mouth. As asbestos bag is installed over the spout for receiving material flowing through the hopper mouth and the slide gate valve without contaminating the atmosphere. Water nozzles installed inside the housing make the asbestos collection system self-cleaning.
