An Intelligent Internet system having the capacity to discover, acquire, organize, store, and make accessible knowledge about things of interest to users and to help users more efficiently interact with these things in a rich variety of ways. The Intelligent Internet system provides users with a personalized interface that dynamically adapts to each user's interests and context. This interface provides users with direct access to 'knowledge' about things that humans or machines can uniquely sense, recognize, name, understand and interact with, whether real or imagined. Users can access the knowledge stored in the Intelligent Internet system to find, learn about and select products and services; communicate with family, friends, colleagues, classmates, customers and suppliers; learn about things they encounter in their environment, make decisions about them, consume and share content related to them and perform transactions.

A bracket attachable to a surface while maintaining the impermeability of the surface to fluids. The apparatus includes a base having a cavity or channel on a bottom side. Holes through the base for receiving fasteners intersect the cavity or channel. The fasteners provide a strong mechanical bond between the bracket and the surface. Prior to installation on the surface, a sealant is placed in the cavity or channel to seal the holes in the surface that are engaged by the fasteners. A mounting device for a building surface. The mounting device includes a mounting body having a slot extending therethrough. This slot may be positioned over/about a standing seam on a metal roof/sidewall and be appropriately secured thereto, such as by the use of blunt-nosed screws which engage the seam material. The mounting device also includes at least one mounting cavity which is adapted to receive an attachment, such as a snow retention device or an interconnector which then engages the attachment (e.g., a frame structure, sign).

An apparatus (10) for controlling the movement of snow and/or ice along/across selected areas of a roof (16), such as a metal, raised seam roof, is disclosed. The apparatus (10) comprises clamps (12) interconnected by at least one cross-member (18). The clamps (12) frictionally engage an external surface of a roof ridge (14) such that the clamps (12) are secured to the roof (16) without piercing the roof (16). The cross-member (18) can be straight or bent and a mechanism can be provided for adjusting the height of at least a portion of the cross-member (18) over the roof (16).
