Disclosed are polymeric additives for concrete formed of a polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymer, POM copolymers can be utilized to form fibrous additives for concrete, i.e., microfibers and/or macrofibers. The POM copolymers can include one or more chemical groups, e.g., end groups and/or pendant groups that can increase the polarity of the POM and increase the hydrophilicity of the formed fibers, which can improve miscibility of the fibers in wet concrete. Chemical groups of the POM copolymers can bond with components of the concrete or can hydrolyze to form groups that can bond with components of the concrete, e.g., form covalent or noncovalent (e.g., electrostatic or ionic) bonds with one or more components of the concrete binder.

Polyoxymethylene fibers in concrete

A powder containing a polyoxymethylene polymer for coating metallic substrates is described. The polymeric particles are made from a polymeric composition containing a polyoxymethylene polymer having functional terminal groups. The polyoxymethylene polymer is blended with at least one functional additive. The functional additive can decrease the stiffness of the polyoxymethylene polymer, can decrease the shrinkage properties of the polyoxymethylene polymer and/or increase adhesion of the polymer to metal surfaces.

Powder containing a polyoxymethylene polymer for coating metallic substrates

Polymer compositions containing a polyoxymethylene polymer are disclosed that are receptive to paints and ink coatings. The polymer composition contains a polyoxymethylene polymer having a relatively high functional group content in combination with a coupling agent, a texturizing agent, and optionally a thermoplastic elastomer. The polymer composition can be molded into various articles at a mold temperature less than about 125&#xb0; C., such as from about 60&#xb0; C. to about 120&#xb0; C. and then painted or printed with an ink composition. The polymer composition has been found to dramatically improve adhesion between the molded article and the ink or paint coating.

Polyoxymethylene with improved printability

Polymer compositions containing a polyoxymethylene polymer are disclosed that are receptive to paints and ink coatings. The polymer composition contains a polyoxymethylene polymer having a relatively high terminal hydroxyl group content in combination with a thermoplastic elastomer. In one embodiment, a coupling agent may be added for coupling the thermoplastic elastomer to the polyoxymethylene polymer. The polymer composition can be molded into various articles and then painted or printed with an ink composition. The polymer composition has been found to dramatically improve adhesion between the molded article and the ink or paint coating.

Low VOC emission polyoxymethylene and compositions and products that incorporate the polyoxymethylene are described. The polyoxymethylene is end capped with compound that can prevent degradation of the polymer and subsequent emission of VOC degradation products such as formaldehyde. The end-capped polyoxymethylene can include an inorganic linkage within the polymer backbone that is the reaction product of a terminal hydroxyl group of the polyoxymethylene and a hydrolyzable group of the compound. Also disclosed are products as may be formed from the low VOC emission polyoxymethylene.

Low emission polyoxymethylene

Disclosed are polymeric additives for concrete formed of a polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymer. POM copolymers can be utilized to form fibrous additives for concrete, i.e., microfibers and/or macrofibers. Oxymethylene polymers having a bimodal distribution or having a distribution of higher modality and having a targeted content of a low molecular weight fraction of from 1 to 5 percent by mass are described. Moldings of these polymers are distinguished by high low-temperature notched impact strength associated with a high modulus of elasticity.

Oxymethylene polymers, process for the preparation thereof and use thereof

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of oxymethylene polymers as well as oxymethylene polymers obtainable therefrom. The process includes polymerization of a monomer, which forms &#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014; units in the presence of an acetal of formaldehyde or a polyhydric alcohol and an initiator for cationic polymerization. The initiator may be a heteropoly acid or an acid salt thereof which is dissolved in an alkyl ester of a polybasic carboxylic acid.

Oxymethylene polymers and process for the preparation thereof

Oxymethylene copolymers having a high proportion of terminal alkyl ether groups and having terminal hydroxyalkylene groups are described. These polymers are distinguished by high thermal stability and high hot water resistance. Furthermore, a process for the preparation of oxymethylene copolymers is described in which the polymerization of at least one monomer forming &#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014; units is effected in the presence of at least one acetal of formaldehyde and of at least one initiator of cationic polymerization and the initiator of cationic polymerization is used in an amount of less than or equal to 10mol %, based on the amount of the monomers present at the beginning of the polymerization and forming &#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014; units, in which starting materials of the polymerization are used such that the content of water and formic acid at the beginning of the polymerization is less than or equal to 40 ppm, and in which the initiator and/or the active polymer chains are deactivated by treatment of the prepared polymer with a base-containing protic solvent.

Oxymethylene copolymers and the use thereof and process for the preparation of oxymethylene copolymers

A process for the preparation of polyoxymethylene copolymers, wherein 1,3,5-trioxane is polymerized with generally known comonomers in the presence of a strong protonic acid initiator and in the presence of a formaldehyde dialkyl acetal, and wherein the initiator is dissolved in the formaldehyde dialkyl acetal before admixing to the trioxane and the comonomers.
