A device having a signal level different from a signal level of an external device includes an interface, such as an IC interface, for providing communications with the external device. The interface is configurable to support communications with the external device either via multiple wires or via a single wire.

A testing procedure may determine whether a monolithic voltage reference device meets a temperature drift specification. A first non-room temperature output voltage of the monolithic voltage reference device may be measured while the monolithic voltage reference device is at a first non-room temperature which is substantially different than room temperature. First non-room temperature information may be stored in a memory within the monolithic voltage reference device which is a function of the first non-room temperature output voltage. A second non-room temperature output voltage of the monolithic voltage reference device may be measured while the monolithic voltage reference device is at a second non-room temperature which is substantially different than the room temperature and the first non-room temperature. Second non-room temperature information may be stored in the memory without destroying the first non-room temperature information which is a function of the second non-room temperature output voltage. A determination may be made whether the monolithic voltage reference device meets the temperature drift specification based on a computation that is a function of both the first non-room temperature information and the second non-room temperature information.

Monolithic voltage reference device with internal, multi-temperature drift data and related testing procedures

Electronic devices, and methods, for transmitting, transferring and/or conveying a multi-bit digital signal as a voltage signal via a single pin. Devices and methods according to the invention substantially reduce the pin count of a device because inputting of a multi-bit digital signal preferably does not use more than one input pin. In addition, the speed of transmission is improved because the multi-bit digital signal is transmitted as a voltage signal substantially at one time as opposed to serially.

Circuits and methods for interconnecting a live backplane and at least one I/O card are provided. This invention provides interconnection circuitry that utilizes buffer circuitry to connect the data and clock busses of the backplane to the data and clock busses of the I/O card in a 'hot-swappable' fashion. Buffer circuitry also isolates the capacitance associated with the backplane from the capacitance associated with the I/O card. For example, when at least one signal is driven from the backplane to the I/O card, the signal need only overcome the capacitance associate with the backplane. Conversely, when at least one signal is driven from the I/O card to the backplane, the signal need only overcome the capacitance associated with the I/O card. Hence, this capacitive isolation facilitates signal propagation between the backplane and the I/O card.

A portable power source () includes a housing (), a stator component (), a rotor component (), a crank assembly (), and a control system (). The stator component () is secured to the housing (), the rotor component () rotates relative to the stator component () and the crank assembly () is coupled to the rotor component (). The crank assembly () is rotated by the user relative to the housing (). As provided herein, rotation of the crank assembly () by the user results in rotation of the rotor component () relative to the stator component (). In one embodiment, the control system () controls the amount of torque required to rotate the crank assembly (). For example, the amount of torque required to rotate the crank assembly () is varied according to the rotational position of the crank assembly ().

Methods and circuits implementing a constant-current/constant-voltage circuit architecture are provided. The methods and circuits preferably provide a charging system that provides current to a load using a fixed current until the load is charged. When the load is charged, the methods and circuits preferably provide a variable current to the load in order to maintain the voltage level across the load. This variable current varies according to the voltage across the load. In one embodiment of the invention, a constant power current may also be used as one of the load charging currents. The constant power current may act as a limit on the charging circuit's power output.

Constant-current/constant-voltage circuit architecture

Circuits and methods for controlling load sharing by multiple power supplies are provided. In preferred embodiments, load share controllers utilize multiple voltage control loops to monitor the output voltages that are being provided by multiple power supplies connected to a load. These voltage control loops each generate a voltage control voltage that is proportional to the difference between the actual output voltage of the corresponding power supply and the desired output voltage. The voltage control loop with the highest voltage control voltage then controls a current control voltage generated in a current control loop for each power supply via a share bus. These current control loops then regulate the current provided by the corresponding power supplies so that those currents are all proportional to the voltage on the share bus. By monitoring the current control voltage in each current control loop, the voltage at the output of each power supply, and the direction of the current flowing between each power supply and the load, the circuits and methods of preferred embodiments of the invention can detect and account for out-of-regulation conditions, over voltage conditions, short circuit conditions, and hot-swapping conditions.

Constant-current/constant-voltage current supply

An integrated cable-termination circuit is presented that can be selectably automatically configured to terminate a signal cable in conformance with one of a plurality of electrical interface standards, including, for example, CCITT/EIA standards V.11/RS-422 and V.35. Selected termination configurations are maintained when input voltages exceed power supply voltages or when power to the circuit is removed. A plurality of cable-termination circuits are provided to form an integrated selectable cable terminator for selectably terminating multiple cables, each in conformance with one of a plurality of electrical interface standards.
