A pump control assembly for controlling a variable displacement hydraulic pump includes a spool mounted within a valve block. The spool is configured to move between a first and a second position within the valve block so as to selectively control the displacement of the attached pump. The pump control assembly further includes first and second chambers that each apply a force to opposite ends of the spool. The first chamber is positioned at a first end of the spool in fluid communication with a pump output port. The second chamber is positioned at a second end of the spool and in fluid communication with a hydraulic tank port and a proportional pressure reducing valve. The second chamber also includes a piston and first and second springs positioned on either side of the piston. The proportional pressure reducing valve provides a regulated pressure to a first side of the piston along with the first spring, and the hydraulic tank port provides a tank pressure on the opposite side of the piston along with the second spring. The pump control assembly also includes a stop structure having a positive stop that limits movement of the piston in a direction toward the first chamber.

The present invention relates to a hydraulic pump system including a variable displacement pump that generates an outlet pressure. The hydraulic pump system also includes a control system that decreases a displacement volume of the variable displacement pump in response to an increase in the outlet pressure and increases a displacement volume of the variable displacement pump in response to a decrease in the outlet pressure.

Multi-source power management for a transport refrigeration system

A hydraulic pump system includes a pump control system operable to reduce electric current required at the start of the pump and reduce starting torque for the pump. The pump control system can include a gap between a spring seat and a valve spool such that the valve spool need not overcome a biasing force from a swash plate when the swash plate changes from its maximum displacement position to its neutral position.

A hybrid drivetrain for a motor vehicle includes an automated mechanical transmission (AMT) having an output shaft. The drivetrain includes an alternative energy source including a motor and an energy storage unit and two torque transfer arrangements. The first transfer arrangement is separate from engageable gear sets of the AMT for transferring torque from the output shaft to a motor when the energy storage unit is being charged and for transferring torque from the motor to the output shaft when the energy storage unit is being discharged. Additionally, an alternative energy source clutch for selectively coupling the first torque transfer arrangement to the output shaft is included. The second torque transfer arrangement is for transferring torque from the output shaft to a driven axle of the motor vehicle. At least one of the first and second torque transfer arrangements has different first and second torque transfer ratios.

Integrated hydraulic hybrid drivetrain system

An output transfer group, or drop box, can include a housing and a gear transfer train, rotatably supported within the housing, that includes an input gear adapted for enmeshing engagement with a transmission output shaft and a gear transfer output shaft that is rotatable upon rotation of the input gear. A coupler can be provided that includes a hub rotatively coupled with the gear transfer output shaft, a bearing carrier, a coupler output shaft rotatively coupled to the bearing carrier, and a coupling mechanism rotatively coupled to the bearing carrier. The coupling mechanism can be movable between an engaged position, wherein the coupling mechanism is rotatively coupled to the hub, and a disengaged position, wherein the coupling mechanism is disengaged from the hub. A solenoid can be arranged with the coupling mechanism to selectively move the coupling mechanism from the disengaged position to the engaged position.
