A high strength polymer-based blank cartridge having a first end; a shoulder disposed approximate the first end; a second end opposite the first end; and an insert engaged to the second end. A metal sleeve extends between the shoulder and insert, and a polymer sheath covers at least the metal sleeve. A propellant chamber is formed between the shoulder and the insert by at least the metal sleeve, and the propellant chamber has an unobstructed and a reduced volume, wherein the reduced volume is reduced in comparison to a propellant chamber of a standard cartridge.

Polymer-based cartridge casing for subsonic ammunition

An ammunition container can include a bottom wall, a first side wall and an opposing second side wall, and a front wall and an opposing rear wall. An interior volume can be formed from the five walls. A top lid can be removably engaged to one of the first side wall, the second side wall, the front wall, and the rear wall, opposite the bottom wall. The lid encloses the interior volume. A first interlocking stacking element can have a first raised protrusion forming a first shape and disposed on the top lid or the bottom wall. A second interlocking stacking element of second raised protrusions forming a second shape on the opposite wall. It can be sized or shaped to interlock with the first interlocking stacking element. The first and second interlocking elements can prevent movement along at least one axis or two axes (i.e. sliding or disengagement).

Interlocking stacking ammunition containers

A high strength polymer-based cartridge having a first end; a neck disposed at the first end and a shoulder disposed below the neck to form a bottleneck cartridge. A second end is opposite the first end and an insert is engaged to the second end. A propellant chamber is formed between the shoulder and the insert and has a volume. An extension extends from the neck opposite the shoulder and a cap is formed on the extension, partially sealing the propellant chamber.

A polymer-based cartridge for subsonic ammunition with a first end having a projectile disposed in a mouth, a shoulder forming a bottleneck cartridge; and at least a polymer wall between the first end and a second end opposite the first. An insert is joined to the second end, having an extraction rim and groove, a primer pocket communicating with a flash hole, and the flash hole communicating with a propellant chamber. A sleeve section is also included and the sleeve section and the wall form the propellant chamber having a thickness at least 1.25 times greater than a standard thickness of a wall of a standard cartridge. The propellant chamber between the mouth and the insert is unobstructed and comprises a powder load having a load density greater than 40%.

Polymer-based cartridge casing for blank and subsonic ammunition

A polymer-based cartridge for subsonic ammunition with a first end having a projectile disposed in a mouth, a shoulder forming a bottleneck cartridge; and at least a polymer wall between the first end and a second end opposite the first. An insert is joined to the second end, having an extraction rim and groove, a primer pocket communicating with a flash hole, and the flash hole communicating with a propellant chamber. A sleeve section has a metal or a metal alloy, extending from the insert toward the first end, and at least partially covered by the wall. The sleeve section and the wall form the propellant chamber having a thickness at least 1.25 times greater than a standard thickness of a wall of a standard cartridge. The propellant chamber between the mouth and the insert is unobstructed, and comprises a powder load having a load density greater than 40%.

An example of a high strength polymer-based linked cartridge can have a casing inclosing a volume with a mouth and a neck extending away from the mouth. Next, there is a shoulder extending below the neck and a body extending below the shoulder. The body has a finger disposed on a first side of the body, the finger having a length and at least two fingers disposed on a second side of the body. The body also has a pawl catch disposed on a third side of the body. The at least two fingers can be spaced from each other a distance approximately equal to the length, and they can be configured to engage a finger disposed on a second cartridge.

Polymer-based machine gun belt links and cartridge casings and manufacturing method

An example of a polymer-based machine gun link can include a first side having a finger to hold a cartridge and a second side, opposite the first side, having at least two fingers to hold a second cartridge. A stem can join the first side and the second side the two fingers are smaller than the finger and spaced along the stem so that the finger fits between the two fingers. All of the finger, the two fingers, and the stem are made from polymer.
