Foodstuff items to be cooked, e.g., meats and boned poultry, are bound or wrapped in fibrous silicone elastomeric bindings, e.g., ties or nets, to maintain structural integrity during cooking. After cooking, such bindings have not decomposed, are not adhered to the foodstuff item, and have retained their elasticity.

Heat-vulcanizable organopolysiloxane compositions, adopted for curing into silicone elastomers having improved reversion and oil resistance and useful, e.g., as seals in contact with hot oils, comprise at least one diorganopolysiloxane resin (A) having a viscosity of greater than 1,000,000 mPa.s at 25.degree. C., a reinforcing and/or semireinforcing filler material (B), an organic peroxide (C), an organosilicon compound (D) containing at least one acryloyloxyalkyl or methacryloyloxyalkyl group bonded to a silicon atom, and (E) at least one oxide or hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal.

Heat-vulcanizable organopolysiloxane compositions well adopted for extrusion and molding, and facilely converted into elastomeric shaped articles having improved physical and electrical properties, e.g., seals and sections, include a diorganopolysiloxane oil containing from 0.05 to 3 mol % of vinylsiloxy recurring units, as well as an amine having a pKa greater than 7.5 in aqueous solution at 25.degree.
