A process for the separation of a first amine having a tertiary amine group and a secondary amine group such as N,N,N'-trimethylbis(aminoethyl)ether from a di-tertiary amine such as N,N,N&#x2032;,N&#x2032;-tetramethylbis(aminoethyl)ether, comprising: contacting a mixture of the first amine and the di-tertiary amine with a carbonyl compound capable of forming an enamine such that the carbonyl compound reacts with the first amine to form an enamine; separating the enamine from the di-tertiary amine; and subsequently converting the enamine to the first amine.

This invention concerns a compound formed from a tertiary amine-carboxylic acid salt, where the carboxylic acid and tertiary amine are selected such that the catalyst salt is blocked at room temperature and becomes unblocked at an elevated temperature. Provided are catalyst systems which produce flexible polyurethane polyester foams that are color stable, are lower in odor, and uses less catalysts than current most commonly practiced technology. The use of lower amounts of catalysts with low vapor pressure reduces worker exposure to alkaline corrosive materials, reduces pollution through less pounds of volatile organic chemicals (VOC's) and is less expensive.

Provided herein are polyurethane foams which may be prepared by spray techniques. The foams of the invention are prepared using conventional isocyanates and a novel Mannich condensate polyol having a hydroxy number in the range of 250-340 and a viscosity of 3500 cps or less, and wherein the Mannich condensate polyol is derived from nonylphenol, formaldehyde, an alkanolamine, and propylene oxide as the sole alkoxylating agent. Polyurethane foams prepared according to the invention possess superior physical properties over sprayed polyurethane foams prepared using Mannich condensate polyols which are made using mixtures of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide.

Method of preparing an aliphatic polyurea spray elastomer system

The present invention provides a support for enabling a door to be painted or finished conveniently without interference or obstruction. The support is an elongated member having first and second ends. Adjacent to one end, the member includes a hole and a flange structure with another hole aligned with the hole in the member for removably receiving a nail such that the sharp tip and a portion of the nail is exposed. In use, the nail is set in the top edge of the door and the second end of the support is rested against a wall. Thus supported, there is unobstructed access to the two long side edges and two main sides of the door. A fulcrum is provided along the member, more closely adjacent to the end with the flange structure than to the other end, to assist in levering the member, particularly the nail, free of the door after it is finished.

A process, and the product produced thereby, for preparing a polyurea foam which comprises reacting an aliphatic polyamine having an average functionality from about 2 to about 6 wherein about 55 to about 95 percent of the functional groups are primary amine functional groups and about 5 to about 40 percent of the functional groups are primary or secondary hydroxyl groups with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a blowing agent that comprises water. The use of polyether polyamines having primary hydroxyl groups improves the cross-linking characteristics of the polyurea foam.

A method is provided for the preparation of tertiary polyamines by alkylating a polyamine having at least two primary amino groups without the use of excess solvent. More particularly, a tertiary amine is produced by reductively alkylating a polyamine with a carbonyl compound, such as formaldehyde, in a reaction zone while in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst and hydrogen under reductive conditions.
