The invention is a hand-held self defense weapon having a protected stabbing point. The stabbing point is covered by a retractable cover. The cover may be slidably retracted into a body cavity by the pressure of the contacting object on a cover thrusting surface. The stabbing point, which is rigid to a grippable handle, is exposed by the retracting cover. An alarm is switched internally by the motion of the cover, eliminating manually switching by the user during emergencies. After use, the stabbing point is retained in a point guide which also acts to retain body tissue captured from the body penetrated. The configuration and dimensions of the weapon are such as to be comfortably carried in a person's hand and naturally employed in natural self-defense actions.

A pipe hanging system supports a section of pipe on a flat mounting surface formed on a generally flat roof. The system includes a base having a substantially flat base lower surface cooperating with the flat mounting surface for distributing a load over a region of the flat mounting surface which is sufficiently large to maintain the maximum unit load per unit area within an acceptable limit. The base has at least one opening formed therein. A post has an end which is received within the opening and is oriented substantially perpendicular to the base. A cross-member is attached to the post and is oriented substantially perpendicular to the post. A threaded rod is attached to and downwardly depending from the cross-member. A yoke supports the section of pipe and is attached to the threaded rod for accommodating vertical adjustment of the yoke and the section of pipe, and for allowing limited relative transverse movement between the yoke and the post.

Pipe hanging and rooftop load supporting system

A multiple-electrode spot welding apparatus has the inner ends of the electrode shanks disposed in a bed of small ball bearings in such a manner that when the electrode tips contact a workpiece, any uneven pressure applied by one of the electrodes moves the other electrodes to equalize the pressure applied by all electrodes. In another embodiment of the invention, the ends of each pair of electrode shanks have semi-spherical ends seated on a small tilt plate. The mid-section of the small tilt plate is seated on a small ball which, in turn, is seated on another larger tilt plate. The larger tilt plate is seated on a larger ball in such a manner that any imbalance in the pressure of certain electrode tips contacting the workpiece, causes the other electrode tips to move to balance the pressure of all the electrodes. A third embodiment uses a single ball mechanism to make a dual electrode fixture self-adjusting.

A system of pipe hangers or the like for supporting various fluid bearing pipes and conduits which are exposed to the elements and extend along the rooftops of buildings. The hangers include a foundation of pre-cast reinforced concrete using reinforcing bars and tubular goods. The concrete base is seated on an isolation pad which is adhered to the roof without the use of nails or other fasteners penetrating the roof. The concrete base includes tubular inserts cast in the base which provide ready assembly of the bracket supporting the yoke and roller portion of the yoke pedestal or the studs for yokeless pedestal. The pipe hangers are adjustable to accommodate the need for leveling and weight distribution for equalizing the roof loading. In another embodiment, the pipe hangers include brackets for supporting accessories such as conduits and clamps.

A linear detector selectively detects successive line images from different angles while the linear detector and a radiation source are rotated about a patient. Radiation-transmission images are generated and detected and converted to computer-grabbed images by a computer which acquires, processes, stores and reconstructs the images. A visual monitor display reconstructs video images including a planar image and tomographic images representing sections orthogonal to the planar image. Selectively-positionable field-delineating lines corresponding to intersectional outlines between a simulation beam and the planar image are overlaid on the planar image. Beam-delineating lines are updated by the computer to correspond to intersectional outlines as the field-delineating lines are positioned.

X-ray imaging system with a sweeping linear detector

A simulation/generation/verification system for blocker patterns and blockers for use in radiation therapy comprises a fluoroscopic simulator apparatus, a computer system for acquisition and processing of fluoroscopic images, a manual input device for superposing blocker pattern outlines onto such images, display and storage devices for such images, apparatus for automatic cutting of blocker contour templates, blocker patterns and blockers, and apparatus for verification thereof. The system also facilitates acquisition of compensator contours and generation of corresponding compensator filters for incorporation with blockers. The system facilitates simulation, generation, and verification of blocker patterns or blockers per se in one substantially continuous procedure that minimizes intervening manual steps, while a patient is aligned within the system during an uninterrupted session. Computer-aided and computer-controlled fluoroscope image composition, linearization, enhancement and manipulation, marking of target field, acquisition and appropriate manipulation and superposition of compensator contour information, recording of all of such information and use thereof for automatic cutting of blocker contour templates, compensator filters, blocker patterns or blockers and immediate verification thereof facilitate time and cost savings, improvement in blocker accuracy, and reduction of patient anxiety and discomfort.

Method and apparatus for generating radiation blockers

A roofing shingle having its lower edge portion vertically slotted to divide it into a series of tabs, the shingle being configurated to permit easy breaking of the tabs from the upper part of the shingle, and having a horizontal strip of heat-sensitive adhesive applied to its upper surface on a line above the upper ends of its slots, the upper portions then being usable to form a course of starter shingles along the eave edge of a roof deck to provide an uninterrupted shingle beneath the slots of a course of standard shingles applied over the starter course, with its adhesive strip positioned to seal down the tabs of the first course of standard shingles, and the separated tabs being usable to simulate a course of topping-out shingles adjacent the ridge of the roof. The top surface of the shingle is also configurated to drain water away from the nails used to secure it in place, to inhibit leakage of water through the nail holes in the shingle.

Starter shingle

A roof ventilator consisting of a conduit adapted to be secured in a hole formed through roof deck to extend upwardly therefrom, the conduit including a first perforated section extending through a hole formed in layered roofing material applied over the deck, a second section adapted to seal the hole in the roofing material, a third section extending to any desired height above the roof, and a header providing downwardly directed air outlets to the atmosphere. A drip pan is suspended in the attic space below the roof deck to collect and dispose of moisture either condensing in the conduit, or expelled from the layered roofing material.

The present invention relates to a smoking pipe having a retroverted-flow filter around a bit member and having a bowl placed within a bowl receptacle for enabling quick and easy changing of the smoking bowl while additionally creating an air cooling space between the bowl and bowl receptacle. More specifically, the present invention represents an improvement on the bit member and bowl structure of U.S. Pat. No. 3,780,745.

Change-a-bowl pipe

A gun for dispensing a plural component system includes a housing having appropriate connections to a pressurized air supply and pressurized first and second component storage reservoirs. Within the housing are located first and second component feed ports, each having a control valve located in its interior. A valve carrier member is movably located in the housing and is moved by a trigger. The first and the second valves are connected to and moved in response to movement of the valve carrier member. The gun includes a gas passage having a gas valve located therein. The gas valve is also connected to and moves in response to the valve carrier. At the forward end of the housing is a static mixing chamber which has a discharge outlet as well as inlets leading to both of the component feed ports and to the air passage. When the valve carrier is in a first position pressurized air is introduced into the mixing chamber which purges the mixing chamber. When the valve carrier is in a second position the components of the plural component system are discharged from the respective component feed ports into the mixing chamber and out of the discharge outlet.

Gun for dispensing a plural component system

There is provided a building structure made from wooden logs with gaps between the logs for receiving insulation. The gaps are formed between the stacked logs by driving sharpened spikes into oppositely facing logs so that the opposing sharpened tips of the spikes penetrate the logs and secure a fixed distance between such logs. Two spikes are normally aligned with one another and respectively driven near the inner and outer walls of the log structure. Each spike has a hole drilled there through for receiving a screw-like rod interconnecting the two spikes and supporting various building items such as a wire mesh screen for receiving plaster, a vapor barrier and inside panels. Furthermore, insulation is provided between the two logs so that the thermal resistance of the overall building structure is greater than a building structure which would use logs alone.

Building assembly with improved insulation characteristics

A pattern table for forming of heated glass tubing such as neon light tubing according to a prescribed flat pattern. The table includes three support surfaces: a first for holding the pattern; a second light transmitting plate held directly over the pattern; and a third light transmitting screen supported on a top surface of the plate. Heated glass tubing can rest against the screen and be formed according to a pattern viewed through the screen and glass plate. The pattern is insulated from the heated glass tubing being formed. The heated glass tubing in turn is isolated from the heat absorbing glass plate by an interposed air space within the screen structure.
