Embodiments of this disclosure are directed to ethylene-based polymers. The ethylene-based polymers are polymerized units derived from ethylene, diene, and optionally one or more C-Cα-olefins. The ethylene-based polymer includes a melt strength greater than negative 17 times the log base 10 of the melt index plus 25 ((MS)>−17*log (MI)+25). In the equation, MS is the melt strength in cN and MI is the melt index in g/10 min according to ASTM D1238. The ethylene-based polymer also includes an average g' that is greater than 0.70. The average g′ is an intrinsic viscosity ratio determined by gel permeation chromatography using a triple detector.

Long-chain branched ethylene-based polymers

Embodiments of this disclosure include polymers comprising the polymerized product of ethylene, at least one diene comonomer, and optionally at least one Cto Ccomonomer. The polymer comprises tri-functional long-chain branches resulting from the diene that occur at a frequency of at least 0.03 per 1000 carbon atoms of the polymer. The diene has a structure according to formula (I):

Cement slurries are prepared that comprise water, a hydraulic cement and particles of an oil-absorbent material. The particles are present in an amount sufficient to alter a property of a non-aqueous drilling fluid. The cement slurry is placed in a subterranean well, whereupon the slurry contacts residual drilling fluid on casing and formation surfaces. The oil-absorbent material in the cement slurry may reduce the mobility of the drilling fluid, thereby improving zonal isolation. The oil-absorbent material may be a polyolefin block copolymer.

Cement compositions and methods

Embodiments of this disclosure are directed to ethylene-based polymers. The ethylene-based polymer are polymerized units derived from ethylene, diene, and optionally, one or more C3-C12 α-olefins. The ethylene-based polymer includes a melt viscosity ratio (V0.1/V100) at 190 C greater than 20. The V0.1 is the viscosity of the ethylene-based polymer at 190 C at a frequency of 0.1 radians/second, and the V100 is the viscosity of the ethylene-based polymer at 190 C at a frequency of 100 radians/second. Additionally, the ethylene-based polymer includes an average g greater than 0.86, where the average g′ is an intrinsic viscosity ratio determined by gel permeation chromatography using a triple detector.

The present invention provides thermosetting aqueous binder compositions of one or more diprimary diamine, e.g. lysine, or poly(primary amine), e.g. polyethylenimine, and one or more reducing sugar in which the number of equivalents of primary amine relative to the number of equivalents of carbonyl groups in the reducing sugar ranges from 0.4:1 to 2:1, the binders being suitable for use on fiber, nonwoven, woven web and finely divided substrates. The binders are at least substantially formaldehyde free, need no polycarboxylic or polycarboxylate component, and yet provide excellent hot wet tensile strength when cured for as little time as a minute or less in use.

A sustained release dosage form comprises an active ingredient blended with a polymeric matrix. At least a portion of the polymeric matrix is formed by a cellulose ether having an onset dissolution temperature of at least 40&#xb0; C., having anhydroglucose units joined by 1-4 linkages and having methyl groups, hydroxyalkyl groups, and optionally alkyl groups being different from methyl as substituents such that the cellulose ether has an MS (hydroxyalkyl) of 0.05 to 1.00, and hydroxyl groups of anhydroglucose units are substituted with methyl groups such that [s23/s26&#x2212;0.2*MS(hydroxyalkyl)] is 0.31 or less, wherein s23 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxyl groups in the 2- and 3-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with a methyl group and wherein s26 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxyl groups in the 2- and 6-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with a methyl group.

Sustained release dosage forms

Cellulose ethers are described herein which are useful in food compositions. In these cellulose ethers the ether substituents are methyl groups, hydroxyalkyl groups, and optionally alkyl groups being different from methyl, the cellulose ether has a DS(methyl) of from 1.65 to 2.20, an MS(hydroxyalkyl) of from 0.10 to 1.00, and hydroxy groups of anhydroglucose units are substituted with methyl groups such that [s23/s26&#x2212;0.2*MS(hydroxyalkyl)] is 0.35 or less, wherein s23 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxy groups in the 2- and 3-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with methyl groups and wherein s26 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxy groups in the 2- and 6-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with methyl groups.

An esterified cellulose ether comprises (i) aliphatic monovalent acyl groups or (ii) groups of the formula &#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;R&#x2014;COOA wherein R is a divalent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group and A is hydrogen or a cation or (iii) a combination of aliphatic monovalent acyl groups and groups of the formula &#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;R&#x2014;COOA, wherein the cellulose ether has anhydroglucose units joined by 1-4 linkages and has methyl groups, hydroxyalkyl groups, and optionally alkyl groups being different from methyl as substituents such that the esterified cellulose ether has an MS (hydroxyalkyl) of 0.05 to 1.00, and hydroxyl groups of anhydroglucose units are substituted with methyl groups such that [s23/s26&#x2212;0.2*MS(hydroxyalkyl)] is 0.36 or less, wherein s23 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxyl groups in the 2- and 3-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with a methyl group and wherein s26 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxyl groups in the 2- and 6-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with a methyl group. The esterified cellulose ether is useful as an excipient for poorly water-soluble drugs.

A flowable or spoonable medicament, food, food ingredient or food supplement is useful for inducing satiety. A flowable or spoonable medicament, food, food ingredient or food supplement is useful for inducing satiety. It comprises (a) one or more mono-, di- and/or oligosaccharides and (b) a methylcellulose, wherein the methylcellulose has anhydroglucose units joined by 1-4 linkages wherein hydroxy groups of anhydroglucose units are substituted with methyl groups such that s23/s26 is from 0.17 to 0.36, wherein s23 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxy groups in the 2- and 3-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with methyl groups and wherein s26 is the molar fraction of anhydroglucose units wherein only the two hydroxy groups in the 2- and 6-positions of the anhydroglucose unit are substituted with methyl groups.
