Radio frequency ('RF') absorbing devices used as RF termination devices or free space absorbers, for example, are formed with a planar wafer made of an inorganic thermally conductive material. The planar wafer has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A metallized resistive film is disposed on the first surface. A metallized reflective heat sink is disposed on the second surface.

High power thermally conductive radio frequency absorbers

Methods and systems for harmonic intermodulation testing are presently disclosed. The test system includes a signal generator configured to generate a test signal having a first frequency. The test system also includes an antenna system configured to transmit a representation of the test signal and receive a harmonic intermodulation signal. The test system also includes a filter configured to remove signals, from a representation of the harmonic intermodulation signal, over a bandwidth that includes the first frequency. The test system also includes an analysis unit configured to measure a power level of a second frequency contained in the representation of the harmonic intermodulation signal. The analysis unit is also configured to determine a passive intermodulation magnitude at any order based on the power level of second frequency.

Passive harmonic test system and method

A temporary microwave horn antenna coupling device is configured for collecting or injecting quantifiable samples of RF energy. The device comprises single electric field probe mounted at the radiating aperture of a radiating payload. The electric field probe can be oriented at 45 degrees to the horizontal and vertical electric fields of a linearly polarized antenna, or oriented for a single linear polarization to the electric field in a circular polarized antenna. The electric field probe is connected to an attenuator and/or lossy cable for reduced reflections and gradient thermal dissipation.

A trailer hitch attachment device for securing a trailer hitch to a hitch receiver includes a collar that comprises a tube. A channel defining an upper guide and a lower guide is positioned in each of a pair of alignment blocks coupled to a left side and a right side of the tube. A latch with a pair of biasers and a pair of extractors coupled to an inside surface is hingedly coupled to the tube. Each of a pair of pins with a curved end, an actuator end, and a pivot hole is positioned in an associated one of the channels with the curved ends extending toward the tube and with the actuator ends positioned proximate to a back end of the tube. A pair of pivots is coupled to and extends from an associated one of the upper guides, through an associated one of the pivot holes and is coupled to an associated one of the lower guides.

A horn antenna with narrow and wide ends can have disposed within it a surrogate waveguide. The surrogate waveguide has a wide end smaller than the wide end of the horn antenna, and the wide end of surrogate waveguide extending to or beyond the wide end of the horn antenna. A mounting plate or face plate covers a portion of the wide end of the horn antenna.

A hybrid reflector antenna particularly suited for reflecting a frequency band in a satellite includes a central portion fully reflective to the frequency band. A first annular band is disposed directly adjacent to the central portion. The first annular band is partially reflective to the frequency band. The reflector may include several annular bands having various degrees of reflectivity and thus attenuation. The present invention may be implemented using two such reflectors, one for transmitting and one for receiving in a satellite, for either single or multiple beam applications. This invention offers more compact and lower mass/cost antenna configurations compared to conventional antennas from multiple beam satellite payloads.

The invention features an exhalation assist device for adjusting the airway resistance in an exhalation circuit of a medical ventilator. The device includes a set of pressure, airflow and airway sensors, a controlling processor, a user interface, and a ventilatory unit in communication with a medical ventilator. Data relating to pressure within the ventilatory unit and data relating to exhalation airflow, exhalation circuit pressure and exhalation circuit resistance are provided to the controlling processor by the sensors. The controlling processor compares measured and calculated values for airway pressure, airflow, airway resistance and applied negative pressure with desired values that have been entered by a clinician. Based on these calculations, the controlling processor transmits a signal that will change the applied negative pressure applied to the exhalation circuit by the ventilatory unit. The amount of negative pressure applied during the breathing cycle is varied by the controlling processor so that the amount of exhalation assist increases proportionately with the amount of exhalation flow and so that the amount of pressure within the patient airway remains constant at a level greater that zero and less than PEEP.
