A method for measuring geometric deviations of a doctor blade using an apparatus, including initializing the apparatus, mounting the doctor blade to a doctor blade holding device, illuminating the doctor blade with light, positioning a first portion of the doctor blade at an optical axis of a camera, obtaining a first image signal from the camera that corresponds to the first portion of the doctor blade, generating a first doctor blade geometry value associated with the first image signal, and determining if a first geometric deviation of the doctor blade is within acceptable tolerance using the first doctor blade geometry value.

Method for measuring doctor blade geometric deviations

An apparatus for measuring geometric deviations in a doctor blade includes a camera defining an optical axis. The optical axis defines an X-axis in a Cartesian coordinate system. An origin of the Cartesian coordinate system defines an intersection point. A first light source has a first central axis. The first central axis is angularly disposed from the X-axis by a first angle with respect to the X-axis. A second light source has a second central axis. The second central axis is angularly disposed from the X-axis by a second angle with respect to the X-axis. A doctor blade holding device is configured to mount a doctor blade wherein a portion of the doctor blade to be measured is positioned at the intersection point.

Apparatus for measuring doctor blade geometric deviations

A lens has a lens body (), reinforcing extensions () and a clear aperture () surrounded on top and bottom by lens body. The lens is suitable for spot scanning. The lens is made of a water absorbing material, such as most polymers, particularly acrylate polymers. Aluminum sheets as vapor barriers are attached on each side of the lens body. This results in excellent resistance to change or distortion in high humidity environments.

A laser scanning unit is provided comprising a housing; a scanning assembly including a scanning device; a first light beam source directing a first light beam toward the scanning device; a second light beam source directing a second light beam toward the scanning device; and first and second post-scan optical assemblies located to receive first and second scanning beams reflected from the scanning device. Each post-scan optical assembly may comprise a first, second and third fold mirror, a first f-theta lens located between the first and the second fold mirrors, and a second f-theta lens located to receive light reflected from the third fold mirror and outputting a compensated scanning beam for generating a scan line on a corresponding photoconductive member.
