An apparatus for supporting an X-ray source in a space having at least one wall and used for exposing patients to X-ray radiation, the apparatus comprising: an upright support member mountable adjacent to the wall; a slidably movable carriage supported by the support member and slidable thereto for planar movement in a plane parallel to the wall; a source assembly mounted to the slidable carriage, and adapted to receive the X-ray source, the source assembly including: a horizontally projecting base member fixed to the carriage; a horizontally extending tubular member pivotally mounted to the base member for pivotal motion in a horizontal plane; a stem receivably journalled within the tubular member for horizontal reciprocation with respect thereto; and a source attachment fixed to the source and including a collar journalled around the stem to provide rotational movement in a vertical plane about the stem.

Positioning apparatus for X-ray source

A sensing probe detects characteristics of the strength of developer solution in a film processor and provides a signal to a sensing circuit. The sensing circuit provides a signal that is thereafter processed or otherwise manipulated for providing an output signal to a display for indicating the strength of the developer solution. The sensing signal may also be used to provide compensation or other appropriate corrective action to the film processor in an integrated monitoring system.

Systems for operating X-ray equipment

A combined, temperature-controlled chemical recirculation and replenishment system including a first conduit defining a recirculation loop conducted between the drain and the inlet of a reactant tank. A pump recirculates reactant chemical through the first conduit, and a controllable heater is connected to the first conduit for heating the reactant chemical. The heat sensor is connected to the heater for sensing the temperature and outputting the temperature signal to a controller. A second conduit is connected between a replenishment tank and the pump. A controllable valve is connected in the second conduit. A controller is connected both to the heater and to the controllable valve. The controller receives the temperature signal from the sensor and is responsive to that temperature signal to activate the heater to maintain the reactant at the optimum temperature. The controller is also responsive to the temperature signal for opening the controllable valve when the reactant is at the optimum temperature, thereby allowing replenishment reactant to flow through the second conduit and to enter the recirculation loop via the pump.

Replenisher system for x-ray film processor

An automatic film processor with self-cleaning capability is provided with a built-in self-cleaning system which utilizes an automatic cycle timer to control a series of events comprising the overall sequential cleaning cycle of the film processor. When activated, the cycle timer, in conjunction with discrete draining means using solenoid operated valves, circulating system means, refilling system means and other interconnections between the various sections constituting the processor, runs the film processor through a series of sequential cleaning events involving the drainage of the developer and fixer compartments, the filling up of these compartments with cold tap water, activating the transport system and rotating the transport rollers, pumping the water throughout the circulation system and warming the water as this event continues, draining the developer and fixer compartments of the rinse water, refilling the developer and fixer departments with fresh chemical solutions from containers located externally from the processing system, refilling the wash water compartment and allowing the wash water to overflow in order to flush the exhausted chemicals down and away from the film processor. The cycle timer is programmed to allot a predefined period of time for each of these cleaning events and then the cleaning cycle ends and the processor is ready to resume its normal film processing operations. A special scrubber pad is also provided and is so positioned that it frictionally coacts with the transport rollers during the cleaning procedure and serves to keep the rollers clean of dried chemicals.

Method and apparatus for automatically self-cleaning film processors

An improved PBL X-ray system in which the collimator is automatically adjusted so that the X-ray field size at an image receptor conforms to the image receptor size and the X-ray source to image receptor distance. Swivelling of the collimator in a plane parallel to the image receptor is detected and operation of the X-ray source is disabled. Manual operation may be obtained by removing the image receptor from its holder. Swivelling the collimator plus or minus 90.degree. exchanges the normally detected image receptor cross and longitudinal dimensions to automatically realign the collimator and image receptor axis. A PBL time delay is provided to prevent premature and undesired operation of the collimator shutters.

Collimator logic control system

An improved collimator control and cassette position monitor for a diagnostic X-ray system. The system includes a position sensing cassette holder or tray which produces a pair of analog voltages corresponding to a long and a cross edge of a cassette in the holder. The collimator control includes a plurality of window detectors for comparing the analog voltages against fixed references corresponding to standard cassette sizes properly centered. If the cassette is properly centered a window detector for the long and for the cross edge will be satisfied, and the digital signals produced by those detectors will control the collimator servo system to establish the X-ray field size. If the cassette is not properly centered either or both of the long and cross window detectors will fail to produce an output. The system will respond to that condition by disabling the X-ray generator and providing a cassette position fault indication, thereby informing the operator to check the cassette position in the holder. The system minimizes the number of repeat exposures and thereby the radiation dosage to a patient.
