A diagnostic device is described herein that can be used to perform magneto-optical detection and discernment of crystals within a biofluid sample. A magnetic field can be applied by the diagnostic device in a direction relative to light traveling through the sample. The presence of a crystal can be determined based on the magneto-optical properties of the sample. The detected crystal can be one of two similar crystal types that may be in the biofluid sample. The two similar crystal types can exhibit different magneto-optical properties under a magnetic field in a different direction. Accordingly, the type of crystal can be discerned by applying the magnetic field in the different direction as light travels through the sample. Discernment of the type of crystal can lead to diagnosis of the particular disease condition and subsequent proper treatment of the disease condition.

A prosthetic apparatus and system for a trans-tibial amputee consisting of a post-operative interface socket that can be adjusted to accommodate the size of an amputated limb and changes in size of the limb. The prosthetic apparatus includes a lower socket into which the post-operative socket can be inserted, the lower socket being adjustable for changes in size of the post-operative interface socket. The post-operative socket also has a removable upper back shell that immobilizes movement of the knee during an initial recovery phase but can be removed to allow the knee of the amputee to flex.

An apparatus for the safe closure of the open area of mobile containers, having a tarp connected to a spring loaded tarp assembly and to the container by brackets. These brackets allow the tarp to be lowered and raised using the spring loaded tarp assembly. A metal plate at the bottom of the tarp is used to secure the bottom of the trap while in the closed position. The spring loaded tarp assembly comprises three main components a sleeve, a rod, and tension springs. The rod allows the free flow rotation of the sleeve with the tension spring acting as a back stop.

A roll coater assembly system for application of a fluid material having a transport system with a part loading system, an application system, and a curing system for curing the material applied. The transport system is a continuous conveyor having a plurality of work stations movably supporting and transporting items to be processed to the application systems and curing systems, with the conveyors of the transport and loading systems having a single drive mechanism which operates both of the conveyors, such that the cylindrical items are provided to circumferentially located stations within and surrounding a cylindrical wheel of the part loading system which rotates to engage and move the cylindrical items into and out of the stations of the cylindrical wheel about a central axis of the cylindrical wheel and into the transport system conveyor by movement of the drive mechanism and respective conveyor synchronized by a control system.

The present invention provides an apparatus for reducing acoustic noise in a magnetic resonance imaging device including passive shielding located outside the actively shielded gradient winding elements in order to reduce the magnitude of fields that spread outside the gradient coil assembly in unwanted directions and interact with the magnet cryostat or other metallic magnet parts, inducing eddy currents that cause consequent acoustic noise. The passive shielding elements are conducting layers located on the outer radius of the cylindrical gradient coil assembly in a cylindrical magnet system, conducting layers located at the ends of the gradient coil assembly in a cylindrical magnet system, and conducting layers located inside the actively shielded gradient winding inner elements in a cylindrical magnet system. The passive shielding could also be located on separate structures that are vibrationally isolated from the magnet cryostat. The actively shielded gradient winding can also be extended to portions at the ends of the actively shielded gradient winding and further to portions inside the inner radius of the inner portion of the actively shielded gradient winding. The actively shielded gradient windings and passive shielding should be designed concurrently in order to substantially optimize the gradient linearity and reduce the eddy currents generated in metallic parts of the magnetic resonance imaging system.

A tailgate seat system for use with a pickup truck includes a back, a seat, and a hinge connecting the seat to the back. The hinge permits the back to freely pivot with respect to the seat, including to form an L-shaped position and also a folded U-shaped position. The tailgate seat system also includes a substantially rigidly supported pole extending along the back to maintain the back in fixed L-shaped or U-shaped position with respect to the seat. The back and the seat each include a rigid panel topped with padding. The back and seat can be upholstered or otherwise treated for comfortable use in seating. The seat can sit atop a tailgate, and the back can extend upright from the seat. The tailgate seat system is conveniently stowable in minimal space of a pickup bed. Additionally, the back of the seat can serve as a display, such as for a design, ad, or team logo.

In a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, a main magnet assembly ( ) produces a uniform magnetic field through an imaging region ( ). An imaging region is defined within a subject by selecting gradient magnetic fields spatially encode the main magnetic field. A whole body birdcage radio frequency coil ( ) excites magnetic resonance in dipoles of the subject. The resonance signals are received by the whole body coil ( ) and by a second, local birdcage radio frequency coil ( ). The first radio frequency coil ( ) produces and is sensitive to a uniform radio frequency field in the imaging region ( ) while the second radio frequency coil ( ) is sensitive to a field that varies sinusoidally in space. From one radio frequency excitation, the two birdcage coils ( ) receive different sets of data with which to fill k-space, accelerating data collection.

An injection press apparatus for molding/joining separate parts. The apparatus having a work table with first and second work stations for injecting material into a mold. A movable extruder/injection assembly is provided which has an extruder portion for extruding material, and an injection portion for injecting material. The extruder portion and injection portion are in fluid communication such that material is provided from the extruder portion to the injection portion prior to injection of material from the injection portion to the mold. The injection portion of extruder/injection assembly has a nozzle assembly for receiving and injecting material from the injection portion to a self-actuating mold clamp assembly at the first or second work stations. The first and second work stations support the mold clamp assembly which receives the molding material. The extruder/injection assembly is movable between the first and second work stations by a shuttle assembly.

The holding device comprises: (a) a substantially flat holder member defining a holder plane; (b) a hook adapted to engage one of the rungs, the hook being adjustable with respect to the holder plane, and lockable in at least two orientations with respect to the holder plane.

An eyewear lens frame constructed of plastic and rubber like materials that has the added advantage of collecting, transferring and disposing of forehead perspiration through its member parts. Perspiration runoff is captured via a lip seal where it becomes congregated in a collection trough. Excess run off flows through the absorption cutouts where they amass in the frame canal. These fluids become gravitationally expelled out the ends of the frame arms via an inter connecting network of canals.

A modular injection molding machine has an extruder/injector assembly, a carriage assembly for carrying the extruder/injector assembly, a first clamping apparatus for holding an associated first mold, a main frame assembly which supports the first clamping apparatus and, a first adder module assembly. The first adder module assembly is selectively operatively connectable to the main frame assembly and is used to support a second clamping apparatus at any selectable laterally spaced distance. The carriage assembly selectively carries the extruder/injector assembly between the first and second clamping apparatuses. The preferred clamping apparatus has a first clamp assembly which is rigidly connected to an associated support member, a second clamp assembly which is movably connected to the first clamp assembly, a lower platen assembly which is operatively connected to the first clamp assembly, an upper platen assembly which is operatively connected to the second clamp assembly and, moving means for selectively moving the second clamp assembly. The first and second clamp assemblies form a collapsible C frame support structure. To add an adder module to a modular injection molding machine, first a base plate is positioned at any selectable laterally spaced distance from a bottom plate. Next, a front plate is placed on a front shelf on the base plate. A back key is then installed, being received within a back key slot on the bottom plate and within a back key slot on the base plate. After that, a tie bar is connected to the bottom plate, the first plate, the base plate and the front plate. A front key is then installed, being received within the key slot of the first plate and within a key slot of the front plate. Finally, a second clamping apparatus is connected to the front plate.

Method for adding an adder module to a modular injection molding machine

A modular injection molding machine has an extruder/injector assembly, a carriage assembly for carrying the extruder/injector assembly, a first clamping apparatus for holding an associated first mold, a main frame assembly which supports the first clamping apparatus and, a first adder module assembly. The first adder module assembly is selectively operatively connectable to the main frame assembly and is used to support a second clamping apparatus at any selectable laterally spaced distance. The carriage assembly selectively carries the extruder/injector assembly between the first and second clamping apparatuses. The preferred clamping apparatus has a first clamp assembly which is rigidly connected to an associated support member, a second clamp assembly which is movably connected to the first clamp assembly, a lower platen assembly which is operatively connected to the first clamp assembly, an upper platen assembly which is operatively connected to the second clamp assembly and, a moving device for selectively moving the second clamp assembly. The first and second clamp assemblies form a collapsible C frame support structure. To add an adder module to a modular injection molding machine, first a base plate is positioned at any selectable laterally spaced distance from a bottom plate. Next, a front plate is placed on a front shelf on the base plate. A back key is then installed, being received within a back key slot on the bottom plate and within a back key slot on the base plate. After that, a tie bar is connected to the bottom plate, the first plate, the base plate and the front plate. A front key is then installed, being received within the key slot of the first plate and within a key slot of the front plate. Finally, a second clamping apparatus is connected to the front plate.

Modular injection molding machine

A method and apparatus for a nonsynchronous system for continuously molding articles from a material cured by the control of temperature and pressure. The apparatus includes a multi-section self-clamping mold, a controller system, a material injector, a transfer system, a curing apparatus for curing the articles, and a mold separator-assembler. The method comprises pre-treating and then assembling the mold in a clamped condition. Under the control of the controller system, the mold is then injected with material from the injector, and moved by the transfer system through the curing apparatus to cure the material within the mold. Once cured, the controller system moves the mold to the mold separator-assembler via the transfer system. The mold is then disassembled into sections, the molded article is removed, and the sections are pre-treated and reassembled, for the next injection operation.
