A description is given of a method and a device for forging a rod-shaped workpiece () which is deformed with the aid of forging tools () in the sense of a cross-sectional displacement perpendicular to the forging axis (a) and is subjected to an axial advancement and possibly a rotation about the forging axis (a) during the pauses in the engagement of the forging tools (). In order to achieve an advantageous grain refinement, it is proposed that the workpiece () is deformed in the sense of the cross-sectional displacement perpendicular to the forging axis (a) in a bending zone () between two central supports () by means of the forging tools () acting on the workpiece () radially in relation to the forging axis (a).

Method and device for forging a workpiece in bar form

An apparatus for forging a hollow body from a pre-perforated hollow block includes forging tools that can be driven radially in relation to a forging axis, a clamping head which is displaceable on a guide bed in the direction of the forging axis and includes collet chucks for the hollow block, and a mandrel carriage which is arranged on the side of the clamping head facing away from forging tools, which is displaceable independently of the clamping head along the guide bed, and whose mandrel bar provided with the forging mandrel penetrates the clamping head coaxially to the forging axis. In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions the mandrel carriage includes an axial actuating drive for the mandrel bar and can be coupled in a tension-proof manner to the clamping head.

An apparatus for forging a hollow body has forging tools which are arranged in a centrically symmetrical way about a forging axis, and a forging mandrel. The forging mandrel has a mandrel core and mandrel segments which are distributed over the circumference of the mandrel core, are exchangeably held on the mandrel core, and form forming surfaces for the hollow space of the hollow body.

A method is described for producing a cylindrical hollow body from a blank, with the workpiece being opened in the core region by successive swaging which is angularly offset against each other about the axis of the workpiece and being simultaneously pushed onto a piercing mandrel. In order to improve the piercing it is proposed that the workpiece is pressed during the swaging with a predeterminable axial force against the piercing mandrel which can be advanced against the workpiece against this axial force, which piercing mandrel is moved back to its initial position synchronous with the axial feed of the workpiece between the successive swaging steps.

Method and apparatus for producing a cylindrical hollow body from a blank

An apparatus is described for forging a workpiece () with an intermittently drivable clamping head () for the workpiece () and with a counter-holder () for receiving the end of the workpiece () averted from the clamping head (), which counter-holder is rotatably held in a frame (). In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the counter-holder () is connected with an intermittent rotational drive () which can be triggered synchronously to the clamping head ().
