An inking unit for printing units of rotary presses is independent of the printing unit and is configured as a self-contained unit. The linking unit can be removed from the printing unit and has a dedicated drive for a plurality of rolls, the drive being arranged on side walls which are assigned to the inking unit.

Self-contained independent inking unit for printing press

A short inking unit for a planographic printing unit that has a compact design and is operable for transferring an ink film to a form cylinder with high uniformity and stability. This short inking unit includes an applicator roll arrangement having a plurality of applicator rolls () which each interact with the form cylinder () and are offset with respect to one another in the direction of rotation of said form cylinder (), and a plurality of engraved rolls () which are offset with respect to one another in the direction of rotation of the form cylinder () and which each have a respective ink supply for applying ink to the engraved roll. The applicator rolls and engraved rolls form a roll train having rolls which roll on one another in pairs with each pair of rolls including one applicator roll () and one engraved roll () interacting at a roll nip of the roll train. The rolls of said roll train each are smaller in diameter than the diameter of said form cylinder, and the roll train has at least one end formed by an engraved roll which interacts with only one applicator roll.

Short inking unit

A doctor blade device for the removal of dampening medium from a soft surface of an ink applicator roller in the inking unit of a printing machine, having at least one doctor blade placed against the surface of the roller and having an edge radius in the range of 2 mm to 10 mm.

Doctor blade device

A chambered doctor blade assembly which can be placed against a roller of an inking unit of a printing machine, in particular onto an engraved roller, has a chamber connected to the surface of the roller by means of an orifice through which printing ink can flow. The orifice can be closed and re-opened by means of a closing element which is arranged within the chamber and which can be brought into a closing position. When the closing element is in the closing position, printing ink can continue to flow through the chamber.

Chambered doctor blade assembly

A device for metering and equalizing an ink layer on the surface of a printing machine roller, in particular on the surface of an ink applicator roller in the inking unit of a printing machine, the surface being additionally wetted with dampening medium. The device contains at least two doctor blades which are arranged preferably at a short distance one behind the other in the direction of rotation of the roller and rest under pressure against the surface of the roller and of which a front doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has a doctor blade edge radius such that essentially only the dampening medium, but not the ink layer, can be wiped off from the surface of the roller by said front doctor blade, while a rear doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has, by comparison, a smaller doctor blade edge radius such that at least part of the ink layer which has remained on the surface of the roller can be wiped off.
