An element frame for holding monoliths containing catalysts in the flow of exhaust gases from a combustion source, the element frame comprising two pairs of opposing walls, wherein the walls form a rectangular or square shape, an interior formed by the walls, an inlet end, an outlet end, at least one locking element, at least one mat and at least one monolith comprising an inlet, an outlet, four sides and at least one catalyst effective in reducing the concentration of one or more gases in the exhaust gas, wherein the at least one mat and the at least one monolith being positioned in the interior of the element frame so that there is at least one mat between the monolith and each adjacent wall, each locking element extending across the inlet end or outlet end of the element frame and being connected to two opposite sides of the element frame.

Frame elements for containing monoliths

The catalyst module is designed for use in an emission control system of a stationary incinerator. It comprises a stack frame, into which several mounting units are inserted strung together. The mounting units have a peripheral side wall as well as several partitions, which are entangled with one another and form a lattice with a plurality of mounting shafts, in which in each case one catalyst is inserted. The catalysts are pressed into position preferably with the interposition of an elastic fitting element.

Catalyst module, receiving unit for such a catalyst module and method for manufacturing such a catalyst module

The catalyst module is designed for use in an emission control system of an industrial scale combustion system. It comprises a stack frame, in which several mounting units, especially element boxes are inserted. Each of these is provided with several catalysts. In order to make a simple installation possible and, at the same time, a reliable sealing, the stack frame is assembled from side frame parts, which are connected and especially bolted to one another via mechanical connecting elements, a sealing element, which is inserted during the installation before the connection of the at least one side frame part and pressed against at least one element box with the help of the connecting element, being present at least at a side frame part.

A catalyst body, which contains a number of passages through which a medium can flow in a preferred direction, is to be able to operate reliably with little cleaning outlay. It is also intended for cracking during the process of manufacturing the catalyst body to be particularly rare. For this purpose, each passage, disposed at right angles to the preferred direction, is approximately rectangular in cross section, as defined by a longitudinal side and a shorter transverse side. The number of passages per unit surface area lies in the range from 0.5 to 2.5 cm,, and the longitudinal sides of a first group of the passages are disposed approximately at right angles to the longitudinal sides of a second group of the passages. The passages are in this case combined to form subgroups, the passages of each subgroup, in terms of their cross sections, forming an approximately square configuration, and each subgroup containing in each case passages from the same group.
