A method produces at least one defined connecting layer between two components, wherein the first component is produced from a first metallic material and the second component is produced from a second metallic material and the first and/or second component has a coating of a third metallic material, the melting temperature of which is lower than the melting temperature of the first and second materials. In this case, the coating of at least one of the components is heated locally to a connecting temperature, which lies above the melting temperature of the third material and lies below the melting temperature of the first material and below the melting temperature of the second material, and is cooled down in order to form a defined connecting layer when the coating solidifies.

An apparatus for marking a component by applying readable identifying information is provided. The identifying information has at least one identifying feature, in particular an identifying symbol. A method for machining includes providing a component or a semifinished part which has a main body with a first surface and with a first surface coating provided on the first surface. The method also includes notching the component or the semifinished part on the first surface coated with the first surface coating. The method also includes severing, perforating or trimming the component or the semifinished part along the notch. At least a part of the first surface coating which is notched in the process is maintained along notch surfaces.

A device and method for producing a component are provided. The device or method includes steps or units for providing a first component element having a recess in or on a first surface of the first component element, and for positioning a second component element in the region of the recess. The device or method also includes a step or unit for pressing the first component element and the second component element together, and as a result forming a material fit, positive fit and/or non-positive fit between the first and the second component elements at least in the region of the recess. The method includes the acts of: a) perforating the at least one component at the at least one joining location in a first press stroke of a tool press, wherein a preliminary hole is formed at the at least one joining location; b) inserting a joining aid element into the at least one preliminary hole; and c) pressing the at least one joining aid element with the at least one component in a subsequent press stroke or working step to form a material-bonding, form-fitting and/or force-fitting connection between the at least one component and the at least one joining aid element. A cutting tool, particularly for steel sheet billets, having a cutting blade fastened to a blade holder and a pressure cushion which is arranged on sides of the blade holder and, when the cutting blade penetrates into the material to be punched, is pressed onto the latter in the area of the useful punched part. During the passage of the cutting blade, a high-quality edge of the useful punched part is largely kept free of an interfering burr and elevation formation by the pressure cushion material being displaced radially outward during the punching stroke, such that the cutting blade is acted upon by pressure in the lateral direction under an increasing elastic deflection of the cutting blade edge.
