A collector ambient electromagnetic power harvesting (AEPH) device for collecting and forwarding data is disclosed. The device includes an antenna, an AEPH circuit converting RF energy from the antenna into electrical power, and a memory and a controller powered by the AEPH circuit. The controller receives in a first RF signal information from a reporter AEPH device, including data and the reporter ID. The controller stores the data in the memory with an association to the reporter ID. The controller receives in a second RF signal an interrogation signal. In response, the controller transmits a response via the antenna including the reporter ID and data in the memory associated with the reporter ID. The interrogation signal may be received and the response transmitted in a first RF band and/or communication protocol, and the information may be received in a second RF band and/or communication protocol.

A communication device includes a central processing unit (CPU); a non-transitory memory; and an RFID application stored on the non-transitory memory and comprising executable instructions that when executed by the CPU, cause the communication device to be configured to provide the communication device in an environment; receive a radio frequency (RF) signal from an RFID reader at a plurality of locations in the industrial environment, wherein the RF signal comprises a frequency in the cellular frequency range; determine a receive signal strength (RSS) of the RF signal at each of the plurality of locations; determine the RSS of the RF signal at each of the plurality of locations; and generate a map of an RFID read zone in the industrial environment based on the RSS of the RF signal at the plurality of locations.

A wireless communication system transfers signaling messages between a wireless access node and a wireless user device. The wireless access node and the wireless user device wirelessly exchange user data with one another. The wireless communication system establishes a node signaling link with the wireless access node. The wireless communication system establishes a user signaling link with the wireless user device. The wireless communication system receives a signaling message from the wireless access node over the node signaling link and transfers the signaling message to the wireless user device over the user signaling link. The wireless communication system receives another signaling message from the wireless user device over the user signaling link and transfers the other signaling message to the wireless access node over the node signaling link.

User equipment (UE) control by a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access node using 3GPP signaling

A communication network receives inbound device context for an inbound wireless communication device from a source network. The communication network detects when the inbound wireless communication device attaches to a target Non Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) access node, and in response, retrieves the inbound device context for the inbound wireless communication device. The communication network transfers network signaling to serve the inbound wireless communication device over the target non-3GPP access node based on the inbound device context. The communication network determines outbound device context for an outbound wireless communication device for a data session over a source non-3GPP access node. The communication network detects when the outbound wireless communication device detaches from the source non-3GPP access node to handover to a target network, and in response, transfers the outbound device context for the outbound wireless communication device to the target network.

Wireless communication handovers for non-Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) access nodes

Systems, methods and devices are provided for facilitating integration of haptic notifications with existing applications, particularly mobile applications. A method includes accessing, by a wireless device storing an application, a haptic notification library including haptic notifications and further accessing code correlating the haptic notifications from the haptic notification library with standard notifications within the application. The method further includes providing the correlated haptic notifications during execution of the application by the wireless device.

The technology described herein controls what a user hears while in a virtual reality environment. A user may be exposed to multiple audio sources while in the virtual reality environment. All of these competing audio sources need to be combined to produce the audio content output to the user. Further, various entities have an interest in the user hearing different audio content. The interest can be expressed through settings made available by the VR platform. The VR platform can provide user settings, landowner settings, and platform settings. The sound settings can change based on where the user's avatar is located in the VR environment. For example, when the user's avatar is located on virtual property owned by an entity other than the VR platform or user, then entities sound-preferences are considered along with the user's sound preferences, and VR platform's sound preferences.

A method for implementing a software-based (SB) radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is disclosed. The method comprises storing first RFID identity data in a memory of the SB RFID tag, storing second RFID identity data in the memory of the SB RFID tag; and receiving via an antenna coupled to the SB RFID tag an RFID interrogation signal from an RFID reader and, in response determining by a processor of the SB RFID tag a status of an RFID identity selection criterion, selecting one of the first RFID identity data and the second RFID identity data, based on the status of the RFID identity selection criterion; and sending the selected one of the first RFID identity data and the second RFID identity data to the RFID reader via an antenna coupled to the SB RFID tag.

A wireless communication network serves a wireless user device using N1 signaling. The wireless communication network establishes active N1 signaling links with the wireless user device and exchanges active N1 signaling with the wireless user device over the active N1 signaling links. The wireless communication network converts one of the active N1 signaling links for the wireless user device into an inactive N1 signaling link and exchanges inactive N1 signaling with the wireless user device to maintain the inactive N1 signaling link. The wireless communication network converts the inactive N1 signaling link for the wireless user device back into the one of the active N1 signaling links without performing a new registration for the wireless user device. The wireless communication network exchanges additional active N1 signaling with the wireless user device over the active N1 signaling links.

Wireless communication service delivery to user equipment (UE) using an access and mobility management function (AMF)

A wireless communication system serves user functions to a wireless user device. The wireless communication system serves selects the user functions for the wireless user device. The wireless communication system selects User Plane Functions (UPFs) to serve the selected user functions. The wireless communication system selects data routes between the selected UPFs. At least one of the selected UPFs receives user data for the wireless user device. At least some of the selected UPFs route the user data among the selected UPFs based on the selected data routes. The selected UPFs serve the selected user functions to the user data for the wireless user device. At least one of the selected UPFs transfers at least some of user data to one or more external data systems. The user functions may comprise deep packet inspection, network border security, low-latency data transfer, high-throughput data transfer, data cryptography, and/or another data service.

Wireless communication network to serve a user equipment (UE) over a user plane function group (UPFG)

A wireless communication system tracks an item that wirelessly transfers a Fifth Generation Identifier (5GID) and a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). Transceivers wirelessly detect the 5GID and the GTIN and transfer messages indicating the 5GID and the GTIN to a ledger gateway. The ledger gateway receives the messages and selects a distributed application in a distributed ledger node based on the 5GID and/or the GTIN. The ledger gateway proposes an item-tracking transaction with the 5GID and the GTIN to the selected distributed application in the distributed ledger node. The distributed ledger node and distributed application execute the proposed item-tracking transaction with the 5GID and the GTIN to generate an item-tracking result and store the item-tracking result in a blockchain format.

A Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) gateway serves a non-Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) user device over a 3GPP N1 link. The gateway receives a transaction request from the non-3GPP user device. The gateway translates the transaction request into a 3GPP request. The gateway transfers the 3GPP request to a 3GPP network and receives an authentication request from the 3GPP network. The gateway generates and transfers an authentication response based on the transaction request and the authentication request to the 3GPP network. In response to the authentication, the gateway establishes the 3GPP N1 link with the 3GPP network for the non-3GPP user device. The gateway exchanges user data with the non-3GPP user device. The gateway interworks the user data and N1 signaling. The gateway exchanges the N1 signaling with the 3GPP network. The 3GPP network interworks the N1 signaling and the user data and exchanges the user data.

Third generation partnership project (3GPP) service delivery to non-3GPP user devices over 3GPP N1 links

A wireless communication network serves User Equipment (UEs) over a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Network Exposure Function (NEF). The wireless communication network comprises a non-3GPP Interworking Function (IWF) and the 3GPP NEF. The non-3GPP IWF receives NEF Application Programming Interface (API) calls that have UE data from the UEs over non-3GPP access nodes. The non-3GPP IWF transfers the NEF API calls that have the UE data to the 3GPP NEF. The 3GPP NEF receives the NEF API calls that have the UE data from the non-3GPP IWF. The 3GPP NEF exposes the UE data to an Application Functions (AF) in response to the NEF API calls.

User equipment (UE) service over a network exposure function (NEF) in a wireless communication network

A service provider of a telecommunications network provides local hosting of virtual user equipment (UE) clients to enable the clients to access locally access services of the telecommunications network's control plane. The service provider deploys a virtual UE client on a computing device associated with the service provider, where the virtual UE client includes computer program instructions that when executed by the computing device cause the computing device to perform one or more functions simulating performance of a physical UE device. The service provider maintains an interface between the virtual UE client and the control plane by which the client receives data from the control plane. The virtual UE client executes an application generated by a customer, which performs one or more functions using the data received from the control plane of the telecommunications network.

A data communication network controls network access for User Equipment (UE) over a non-Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) access node. The non-3GPP access node transfers a UE access control message to a non-3GPP Interworking Function (IWF). The non-3GPP IWF transfers an N2 message indicating the UE access control message to a 3GPP Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF). The 3GPP AMF transfers an N1 message indicating the UE access control message to the UE. The UE processes the UE access control message from the non-3GPP access node.
