A seal assembly for use between a door and a cabinet of a refrigerator includes primary and secondary seals that are preferably carried by the door and extend around the entire perimeter thereof. The secondary seal is specifically designed to minimize necessary closing forces and creates an air cell in a throat area between a cold storage compartment of the refrigerator and the primary seal in order to effectively reduce heat transfer therethrough.

Uniform compression of a refrigerator door seal against the peripheral surface of the cabinet opening is realized by a pair of spaced hinge assemblies coupled for synchronized operation which, in automatic response to opening the door, shifts the hinge axis outwardly prior to permitting pivotal movement of the door about the hinge axis, and requires the door to be moved linearly inwardly while being maintained parallel to the plane of the cabinet opening during final closing of the door.

Ice cubes manufactured by the automatic ice maker of a household refrigerator are collected in a storage bin and conveyed towards the front of the bin and metered through an outlet opening at a constant rate by a longitudinal conveyor rotatably mounted between the front and back walls of the bin, and defined by spaced front and back helical sections of different pitches which convey the cubes forwardly at different rates and a propeller positioned on the conveyor forwardly of the front helical section at the outlet opening for breaking up frozen ice clusters and metering the cubes through the opening and past an upwardly angled ramp carried by an ice dam housing.
