A system and method are disclosed for obtaining pointing directions for every channel of a collimator which can then be used during the image reconstruction process to more accurately estimate the direction from which radiation has been received. The disclosed system and method provide for photographic measurement and analysis of individual collimator channel to determine the pointing directions for every channel in the collimator. This information is obtained by photographing the front and back sides of the collimator, and analyzing the digital image data to obtain the pointing angle of each channel. The resulting information, referred to as a 'vector map' is included in the firmware of the collimator so that it can be called on during the projection and back-projection steps of the algorithm.

System and method for photographic determination of multichannel collimator channel pointing directions

A collimator handling system for partially or fully automating the task of replacing and storing collimators in nuclear imaging systems. A collimator server stores a set of different collimators in stacked drawers which may be automatically extracted into the detector. The reduction in time spent on these tasks reduces cost and increases throughput. Furthermore, the automation of handling heavy lead (or like) collimators increases technician safety.

Integrated collimator handling system and method

A quality control mechanism for a nuclear camera system having a field of view includes at least one source assembly for a radioactive material. The source assembly is configured to automatically remotely move the radioactive material into the field of view and automatically remotely move the radioactive material out of the field of view. The nuclear camera system may have a patient handling system. The quality control mechanism is integrated with the patient handling system at the front end. The radioactive material may be configured as a line source or a point source. A multiple head registration shield tube assembly may extend over the line source to substantially limit the radioactivity emitted by a number of slots in the shield tube assembly.

Automated quality control mechanism for a nuclear detector

Systems, methods and apparatus including an electrical penetration assembly for coupling a plurality of photo-multiplier tubes (PMTs) inside of a tub enclosure of a nuclear detector with an acquisition electronics system (AES) outside of the tub enclosure. The electrical penetration assembly may include at least one flex circuit, a plurality of flex circuit-PMT connectors, at least one flex circuit-AES connector, a flex circuit guide, a tub-penetration mechanical support, a support-to-tub retention mechanism, and a light seal.
