A wireless device operating in a communication network can, responsive to receiving a downlink control indication ('DCI') command to activate or reactivate a configured grant (“CG”) configuration, control at least one timer associated with a non-idle hybrid automatic repeat request (“HARQ”) process on the CG configuration. The non-idle HARQ process can include a process of retransmitting a transmission block (“TB”) using the CG for which an associated media access control (“MAC”) protocol data unit (“PDU”) has been submitted to lower layers for transmission to a network node, but for which successful reception acknowledgment has not been received from the network node.

Handling hybrid automatic repeat request process in configuration grant activation and deactivation procedure

Embodiments include methods, performed by a user equipment (UE), for uplink (UL) transmission on a shared channel in a cell of a radio access network (RAN). Such methods include determining that the shared channel is unavailable for UL transmission of pending data during a first transmission opportunity. This determination can be based on performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure on the shared channel. Such methods include determining that further data for UL transmission is available before a second transmission opportunity that is after the first transmission opportunity, and determining whether the pending data or the further data should be prioritized for UL transmission during the second transmission opportunity. This prioritization determination can be based on various factors. Such methods can also include transmitting the pending data or the further data, during the second transmission opportunity, based on the prioritization determination. Other embodiments include UEs configured to perform such methods.

Collision handling of configured grant based autonomous uplink transmissions

Systems and methods for collection and reporting of Channel Occupancy (CO) statistics for network tuning are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for tuning one or more parameters of a network comprises obtaining a configuration for CO measurement and reporting. The method also includes obtaining a plurality of CO measurements based on the obtained configuration for CO measurement and reporting. One or more of the plurality of CO measurements are obtained when a Radio Resource Control (RRC) state of the wireless device is RRC_INACTIVE or RRC_IDLE. One or more of the plurality of CO measurements are obtained when the RRC state is RRC_CONNECTED. The method also includes reporting a result of one or more of the plurality of CO measurements to a network node. This might allow improved tuning of networks such as tuning of mechanisms that are used to compensate for potential CCA/LBT failures.

Collection and reporting of channel occupancy statistics for network tuning

A method performed by a wireless device. The method may be understood to be for handling a random access procedure in a wireless communications network via a network node. The wireless device operates in the wireless communications network. The wireless device refrains, after having sent a first message to the network node requesting random access and having received a first random access response message from the network node, from stopping a timer. The timer is for a time window for receiving the random access response message. The wireless device also continues monitoring both: a) a radio channel for further random access response messages from the network node addressed to a temporary identifier, and b) the radio channel, addressed to a temporary identifier specifically addressing the wireless device.

Wireless device, network node, and methods performed thereby, for handling a random access procedure

A method performed by a terminal device comprises determining a random access procedure to be performed, the random access procedure being one of a two-step random access procedure and a four-step random access procedure, and transmitting a request message for random access in the determined random access procedure.

Method and apparatus for random access

A terminal device for a wireless communication network is configurable with a plurality of transmission time intervals. An example method comprises: receiving a grant message comprising an indication of radio resources in which the terminal device can transmit one or more wireless messages, the radio resources being configured according to a first transmission time interval of the plurality of transmission time intervals; determining the presence of data to transmit, the data being associated with a logical channel; determining a maximum transmission time interval associated with the logical channel; and, responsive to a determination that the maximum transmission time interval associated with the logical channel is less than the first transmission time interval, transmitting a scheduling request message. The scheduling request message is configured according to a second transmission time interval of the plurality of transmission time intervals, shorter than the first.

Methods and apparatus for utilizing short transmission time intervals in a wireless communications network

A method, in a wireless device that supports carrier aggregation (CA), the method comprising: receiving a configuration message, from a wireless network node, indicating that the wireless device is to directly activate two or more secondary cells. The method further comprises determining that at least a first one of the two or more secondary cells is to be activated by a first time and that at least a second one of the two or more secondary cells is to be activated by a second time, following the first time. The method also comprises activating the first one of the secondary cells by the first time and subsequently activating the second one of the secondary cells by the second time.

Multiple cell activation

Example methods and apparatuses provide for the advantageous use of 'first' and “second” indicators for cell state control with respect to a wireless communication device. When sent singularly, the first indicator indicates activated/deactivated state transitions according to corresponding sequential state transition logic implemented in the device, and the second indicator indicates activated/dormant state transitions according to corresponding sequential state transition logic implemented in the device. When sent jointly for a given serving cell of the device, the first and second indicators operate as a combinational pair that indicates what the operational state of the cell shall be for the device, irrespective of the current cell state. As an example, then, the foregoing “arrangement” allows the network to use single-bit per cell signaling for many state-control scenarios, including “normal” use of legacy activation/deactivation indicators, while also providing absolute state control via two-bit per cell signaling that does not depend on the current state of the cell.

Methods and apparatuses for determining or indicating serving-cell operational states, for a wireless communication device

According to certain embodiments, a method for synchronous control of timing configurations includes operating a wireless device according to a first timing configuration associated with a first delay duration for transmitting feedback to a network node. A second timing configuration associated with a second delay duration for transmitting feedback to the network node is received from the network node. The second delay duration is different from the first delay duration. In response to a first downlink transmission from the network node, a first feedback is scheduled for transmission at a transmission time determined based on the second delay duration associated with the second timing configuration.

Systems and methods for synchronous control of HARQ configurations

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment to perform measurements on a plurality of target cells in a radio access network. Embodiments include receiving a measurement configuration relating to one or more radio resource operations and comprising first and second sets of conditions related to respective first and second target cells; and performing measurements of radio signals associated with the first target cell and/or the second target cell. Embodiments also include performing a radio resource operation toward the first target cell, based on a first determination that the measurements of the radio signals associated with the first target cell fulfill at least one condition of the first set. Embodiments also include performing the radio resource operation toward the second target cell, based on a second determination that the measurements of the radio signals associated with the second target cell fulfill at least one condition of the second set.

Measurement configuration for unlicensed operations

A method for generating a probability map for a cell served by a network node is provided. The method includes generating a first probability map (P) indicating a likelihood of primary beam directions (step). Generating the first probability map includes recording a first direction of a first user equipment (UE), the first direction indicating a direction of a first beam (e.g., a first set of antenna weights (a.k.a., precoding vector)) associated with the first UE when the first UE appears in the cell served by the network node. The method further includes generating a second probability map (P) indicating a joint likelihood of primary and secondary beam directions (step). Generating the second probability map includes recording a second direction of a second beam associated with the first UE when the first UE switches from the first beam to the second beam, the second direction being recorded in association with the first direction.

Efficient beam searching

A wireless device (e.g., UE) and a method implemented by the wireless device are described herein where the wireless device is configured with resources for both Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) and short PUCCH (sPUCCH), and determines whether or not the sPUCCH performance is equal to the PUCCH performance, and based on a result of the determination applies a strategy for determining when to trigger a fallback where the strategy is based on a number of failed Scheduling Request (SR) transmissions to a wireless access node (e.g., eNB, eNodeB, ng-eNB, gNB). A wireless access node and method implemented by the wireless access node are also described herein.

According to the present disclosure, behaviors of User Equipment (UE) and base station (BS) pertinent to Scheduling Request (SR) and/or Buffer Status Report (BSR) as well as resource management in short Transmission Time Interval (sTTI) relevant scenarios are discussed. UE may firstly determine if the SR is triggered by a buffer status change of a delay-critical data which needs a sTTI. If so, UE will send the SR to BS on a first type of uplink control channel designed for sTTI. Otherwise, UE will send the SR to the base station on a second type of uplink control channel designed for legacy TTI.
