Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that control a visual light transmission property of a viewing portion (e.g., glass) of a first device during an image capture event in which an image of the first device is captured by a second device. In one implementation, the portion of the first device is quickly transitioned from a first state to a second state (e.g., being made lighter or darker) for a camera exposure. The dark appearance of the portion of a first device while outdoors may be transitioned to a light appearance while a photo or video is captured. In a second implementation, the portion of the first device is maintained in a first state while a photo or video is captured. For example, the clear appearance of the portion of the first device while inside may be maintained while a photo or video is captured using a flash.

Synchronization of image capture and visual light transmission

In an exemplary process, a set of parameters corresponding to characteristics of a physical setting of a user is obtained. Based on the parameters, at least one display placement value and a fixed boundary location corresponding to the physical setting are obtained. In accordance with a determination that the at least one display placement value satisfies a display placement criterion, a virtual display is displayed at the fixed boundary location corresponding to the physical setting.

Displaying a virtual display

Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that provide images for displaying a 3D appearance of a tracked object on a view dependent device. In some implementations, a set of multiple images of the object from different capture positions is provided and then adjusted such as to render the object in focus when using the adjusted images for display on the view dependent device. In some implementations, the set of multiple images is provided that includes virtual images generated using virtual image sensors that may improve the appearance of out of focus regions (e.g., outside the 3D object appearance) on the view dependent device. In some implementations, the set of multiple images of a person provides a hologram of the person (e.g., left and right eye views provide the appearance of a 3D person) where the images are adjusted to improve gaze direction of eyes of the person.

Holographic video sessions

A processing pipeline and method for mixed reality systems that utilizes selective auto-exposure for a region of interest in a scene based on gaze and that compensates exposure for the rest of the scene based on ambient lighting information for the scene. Images may be generated for display that provide an exposure-compensated, foveated high dynamic range (HDR) experience for the user.

In one implementation, a method includes obtaining an image. The method includes generating a plurality of denoised images by denoising the image using a respective plurality of denoisers, wherein the plurality of denoisers includes a first denoiser associated with a first level of exposure and a second denoiser associated with a second level of exposure. The method includes generating a combined image by combining the plurality of denoised images.

Method and device for generating a high-dynamic range (HDR) image

A display calibration system may include a first electronic device that includes an ambient light sensor and a display to be calibrated in a second electronic device. The first electronic device may generate test patterns to be displayed on the display. The ambient light sensor may receive light emitted from the display based on the test patterns to generate display color space data. The first electronic device may generate calibration data for the display based on the display color space data and a target reference color space. The second electronic device may store the calibration data and use the calibration data to generate more accurate images. Because the first electronic device may include other functionalities other display calibration, specialized display calibration equipment may be omitted. Additionally, a third electronic device that acts as an intermediary between the first and second electronic devices.
