An airflow control system for a gas turbine system according to an embodiment includes: an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of a gas turbine system for drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for extracting at least a portion of the excess flow of air generated by the airflow generation system to provide bypass air; an enclosure surrounding the gas turbine system and forming an air passage, the bypass air flowing through the air passage and around the gas turbine system into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; and an exhaust processing system for processing the reduced temperature exhaust gas stream.

Power generation system exhaust cooling

An airflow control system for a gas turbine system according to an embodiment includes: an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable expander shaft of a gas turbine system, downstream of the gas turbine system, for drawing in a flow of ambient air through an air intake section into a mixing area; and an eductor nozzle for attachment to a downstream end of the turbine component for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system and for drawing in a flow of ambient air through the air intake section into the mixing area, the exhaust gas stream passing through the eductor nozzle into the mixing area; wherein, in the mixing area, the exhaust gas stream mixes with the flow of ambient air drawn in by the airflow generation system and the flow of ambient air drawn in by the eductor nozzle to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream.

An airflow control system for a combined cycle turbomachine system according to an embodiment includes: an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of a gas turbine system, the airflow generation system drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for extracting a first portion of the excess flow of air to provide bypass air, and for diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; diverting a second portion of the excess flow of air into the compressor component; and in response to an increase in a temperature of the air, increasing the second portion of the excess flow of air diverted into the compressor component.

An airflow control system for a combined cycle turbomachine system in accordance with an embodiment includes: an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of a gas turbine system, the airflow generation system drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for extracting a first portion of the excess flow of air to provide bypass air, and for diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; and an airflow regulation system for diverting a second portion of the excess flow of air into the compressor component and, in response to an under-frequency grid event, for increasing the second portion of the excess flow of air diverted into the compressor component.

An airflow system for a gas turbine system according to an embodiment includes: a compressor component of a gas turbine system; an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of the gas turbine system, the airflow generation system and the compressor component drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for: extracting at least a portion of the excess flow of air generated by the airflow generation system and the compressor component to provide bypass air; and diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; and an exhaust processing system for processing the reduced temperature exhaust gas stream.

An airflow control system for a combined cycle power generation system according to an embodiment includes: a compressor component of a gas turbine system for generating an excess flow of air; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; and an air extraction system for extracting at least a portion of the excess flow of air generated by the compressor component of the gas turbine system to provide bypass air, and for diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; wherein the reduced temperature exhaust gas stream is provided to a heat recovery steam generator.

An automated industrial system is provided that includes a sensor system configured to monitor multiple parameters. The automated industrial system also includes a controller. The controller is configured to determine if any of the multiple parameters has surpassed a respective constraint threshold of multiple constraint thresholds. If any of the parameters has surpassed a respective constraint threshold, the controller is configured to classify a parameter of the multiple parameters which has surpassed the respective constraint threshold by the highest degree as the most constrained parameter. The controller is also configured to calculate a minimum temperature load path based on the most constrained parameter, with the minimum temperature load path configured to transition the automated industrial system from a base load to a part load via a minimum temperature load path.

A method of controlling the part-load performance of a turbine includes generating a bypass flow in the turbine by removing a portion of a compressed fluid from a compressor of the turbine, determining an operating load of the turbine, transmitting the bypass flow to a turbine section of the turbine; and selectively heating the bypass flow according to the determined operating load of the turbine.

A system configured to precisely control and/or modulate purge flow in a power plant system (e.g., a gas turbine) during operation is disclosed. In one embodiment, a system includes: at least one computing device adapted to control a purge flow in a gas turbine by performing actions comprising: obtaining operational data from the gas turbine; determining an inferred gas path pressure value for the gas turbine; determining an allowable purge flow for the gas turbine as a function of the operational data and the inferred gas path pressure value; and adjusting the purge flow based upon the allowable purge flow determination.

A metered cooling slot disposed in a wall comprising an outer surface that is exposed to a hot gas stream and an inner surface that defines an internal coolant chamber through which a coolant passes, the metered cooling slot comprising: a slot formed within the outer surface elongated in a first direction, the slot comprising a pair of spaced apart, opposing, slot surfaces and a base, the slot surfaces intersecting the outer surface to form a slot outlet opposite the base; and two or more metering apertures formed within the wall, each metering aperture intersecting the inner surface of the wall to form a metering aperture inlet and intersecting one of the pair of slot surfaces to form a metering aperture outlet; wherein: D represents the approximate diameter of at least two of the metering apertures; P represents the approximate distance between the center lines of at least two neighboring metering apertures; and P/D comprises a value within the range of about 4 to 6.
