A method, system, and computer program product enables automation and control of the sales, management, accounting, reporting, and traffic functions necessary to manage advertisement sales, content management, and administrative processes for media production environments, including, but not limited to, broadcast television, radio and webcasting stations, and newspapers. The advertisement management and automation system operates on a PC-based platform and is networked for communications with local area networks, wide area networks, and the Internet, including both wired and wireless appliances. Distribution and tracking is enabled for both local and national advertisement and content management, whereby data, advertisements, content, and reports are pushed and pulled from individual nodes (e.g., television stations) to a central network hub or point that feeds and/or gathers data and communicates with the individual nodes. Traditional broadcast methods for over-the-air, DBS, terrestrial cable, wireless, and live Internet webcasting are combined with on-demand Internet and wireless appliances for monetizing and streamlining the sales, management, accounting, reporting, and traffic processes for single and multi-distribution content production environments.

A production system having a first production path, a second production path, and a control system that causes the first production path to generate a show in a first aspect ratio and the second production path to generate the same show in a second aspect ratio. Moreover, the product system can product a show from live material and from archived material. This aspect operates by producing a first show including multiple stories, segmenting the first show, and storing the show segments in an archive. Then, the system produces a second show using live portions as well as show segments retrieved from the archive. The product system can include a media manager that interacts with a server that may be integrated with the production system. A system, method, and computer program product for producing a show. In an embodiment, the invention is directed to a production system having a first production path, a second production path, and a control system that causes the first production path to generate a show in a first aspect ratio (4:3), and that causes the second production path to generate the same show in a second aspect ratio (16:9). In another embodiment, the invention is directed to producing a show from live material and from archived material. This aspect of the invention operates by producing a first show comprising a plurality of stories, segmenting the first show, and storing the show segments in an archive. Then, the invention produces a second show using live portions as well as show segments retrieved from the archive. The invention is also directed to a media manager that interacts with a server. In some cases, the server is integrated with the production system. The media manager automatically assigns channels/ports of the server when accessing material stored in the server.

A macro element template is replicated to build a macro element library. A macro element is associated with executable instructions for controlling a plurality of production devices to produce a special effect or segment of a media production. One or more automation control objects are positioned onto a control interface to build a macro element template. Build information is associated with each automation control object to assign a variable name, device type, property page field(s), and variable naming table. A replicator control interface allows a range of sources to be assigned to the macro element template, and is associated with executable instructions for building the macro element library. The macro element library includes user-defined filenames that enables a director to quickly search and select a desired macro element. Changes in production values ripple throughout the macro element library to dynamically update the macro elements.

Building macro elements for production automation control

A production system automates the control of production devices used to produce and broadcast a show. The system automation allows a video director to pre-produce, preview, and produce the live show from a single user interface. In an embodiment, a processing unit displays graphical controls for the production devices. A video director interacts with the graphical controls to thereby remotely control the production devices from one location. In an embodiment, a video director defines a set of production commands or instructions (i.e., 'transition macro'). Upon execution, each production command directs the processing unit to transmit in series and/or parallel one or more control commands to one or more of the production devices. Production commands can be included to enable the show to be broadcast live or recorded for on-demand access. Live and/or on-demand productions are distributed over traditional television mediums and/or a computer network, including the Internet.

The method further includes automatically identifying candidate appointments that correspond to a particular received claim based on a degree of similarity between the service information associated with the particular received claim and the appointment information associated with the scheduled appointments. Additionally, the method includes flagging the particular received claim for resolution when none of the candidate appointments corresponds to the particular received claim, and presenting the particular received claim for payment when at least one of the candidate appointments corresponds to the particular received claim.

Methods and systems for tracking treatment of patients are presented. An exemplary method for tracking treatment of patients includes scheduling appointments for a patient with service providers based on requests for services and generating appointment information corresponding to each of the scheduled appointments; capturing service information corresponding to claims received from the service providers for payment of charges associated with services rendered by the service providers to the patient; and establishing for the patient an episode of care pertaining to treatment of a specified ailment and associating with the established episode of care at least one of the requests for services, the scheduled appointments, and the received claims for the patient that correspond to the treatment of the specified ailment.

Methods and systems for acquiring claims in health services environments are presented. An exemplary method for processing service provider claims for payment includes: scheduling appointments with the service providers, receiving claims from the service providers, analyzing the scheduled appointments to identify at least one scheduled appointment corresponding to each of the received claims, automatically detecting scheduled appointments not identified as corresponding to any of the received claims within a predetermined period of time, and notifying respective service providers that no claims have been received for the detected scheduled appointments. Optionally, the method includes analyzing appointment information associated with a scheduled appointment to determine an anticipated number of received claims corresponding to the scheduled appointment, and automatically flagging the scheduled appointment for resolution when the scheduled appointment is identified as corresponding to fewer than the anticipated number of received claims within a predetermined period of time.

Methods and systems for adjudicating claims in health services environments are presented. An exemplary method for processing service provider claims for payment includes receiving a claim for payment, automatically identifying candidate appointments from a plurality of scheduled appointments based on a degree of similarity between service information associated with the received claim and appointment information associated with the scheduled appointments, analyzing the candidate appointments to determine whether to flag the received claim for resolution, and presenting the received claim for payment when at least one of the candidate appointments corresponds to the received claim. Optionally, the method includes automatically identifying already processed claims based on a degree of similarity between service information associated with the already processed claims and the service information associated with the received claim, analyzing the identified already processed claims to determine whether the received claim is a duplicate claim, and flagging potentially duplicate claims for resolution.
