The present invention provides a system and method for controlling the position of a motorized throttle assembly. The system includes a controller, a motor, throttle position sensors, driver, and a motor. A pulse width modulator is included in the controller to generate a control signal. The motor driver receives the signal and manipulates the motor to control the position of the throttle based on the signal. The control signal includes a magnitude component corresponding to a change in the throttle position, a direction component corresponding to the direction of the change in the throttle position, and a disable command component providing the ability to disable the motor. All three components are combined in a single signal.

Single wire control method for electronic throttle systems

A method and system for selecting one of a plurality of voltage signals generated by a plurality of sensors in response to a common sensor input. The method determines which sensor to use based on a comparison the of the output of the sensors to each other and to known values.

Method and system for selecting between two sensor output signals in an electronic throttle system

An electronic throttle control apparatus includes a variable voltage generator, such as an H-driver, controlling the positioning effort of an electronic throttle motor by generating a variable voltage signal. A current sensing element is coupled to the H-driver and generates a voltage proportional to motor current. A microprocessor is coupled to the H-driver and the current sensing element. The microprocessor determines electronic motor resistance based upon the voltage generated by the H-driver and the current sensing voltage signal. The microprocessor may then modify controller gains based upon the calculated electronic throttle motor resistance.

An enabling device for a motor vehicle having an electronic ignition system and a passive anti-theft system includes an engine control circuit controlling the electronic ignition system of the motor vehicle, a passive anti-theft control circuit electrically connected to the engine control circuit for controlling the passive anti-theft system, and a latch electrically connected to the passive anti-theft control circuit to selectively enable the electronic ignition system.

An enabling device for a motor vehicle having an electronic ignition system including an engine control circuit for controlling the electronic ignition system of the motor vehicle, a hardware limited operating system for controlling the electronic ignition system, a latch electrically connected to the control circuit to enable the electronic ignition system, and an override circuit electrically connected to the latch and the hardware limited operating system to enable the hardware limited operating system.
